You will manage a small team while remaining hands-on in the most critical product initiatives.</li> <li>Sitting at the center of Product and Engineering, you will shape how user insight informs decisions, define the standards that guide execution, and ensure our products meet a high bar for clarity, efficiency, and trust in high-stakes clinical environments.</li> <li>We believe the way products are designed and built is changing rapidly. At Akido, we’re interested in building a modern design function that takes advantage of emerging tools - from AI-assisted prototyping to design systems that map directly to production components. This role will help define how design works in an AI-native product organization: shortening the path from concept to prototype to implementation, experimenting with new workflows and tools, and building systems that allow a small team to move with exceptional speed and clarity.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>What you’ll do </strong></h3> <p><strong>Own UX Across EMR &amp; AI Workflows</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead end-to-end design for core EMR and AI-powered clinical workflows.</li> <li>Translate complex clinical, regulatory, and operational requirements into clear, efficient interfaces that reduce cognitive load and improve workflow efficiency for providers.</li> <li>Design AI-assisted experiences that are transparent, trustworthy, and usable in real-world care settings.</li> <li>Use rapid prototyping and modern tooling to shorten the cycle between concept, validation, and engineering implementation.</li> <li>Maintain design quality through structured reviews and close implementation partnership with Engineering.</li> </ul> <hr> <p><strong>Establish Scalable Design Systems &amp; Tooling</strong></p> <ul> <li>Build and maintain a durable design system that supports velocity and coherence across EMR and AI products.</li> <li>Create consistency in designs and interaction patterns across multiple complex clinical workflows.</li> <li>Introduce tooling and automation that reduce friction between design and engineering</li> <li>Experiment with AI-assisted design workflows (e.g., rapid prototyping, design-to-code exploration, automated documentation), while maintaining a high bar for usability and safety.</li> </ul> <hr> <p><strong>Lead User Insight &amp; Experience Strategy</strong></p> <ul> <li>Partner with Product early in problem definition to surface workflow realities, usability risks, and unmet user needs.</li> <li>Lead design-focused user research initiatives across clinicians, care teams, and patients, and translate research into clear UX principles and experience direction.</li> <li>Define and track UX-focused success metrics such as workflow efficiency, error reduction, AI feature adoption, and provider satisfaction.</li> <li>Ensure experience coherence as the platform evolves across EMR and AI surfaces.</li> </ul> <hr> <p><strong>Lead &amp; Develop the Design Function</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage and mentor our Product Designer and part-time Graphic Designer.</li> <li>Set clear expectations around craft, accountability, and collaboration.</li> <li>Raise the overall level of UX rigor across the organization.</li> <li>Define a roadmap for scaling product design as Akido grows.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>Who you are </strong></h3> <ul> <li>8+ years of product design experience, including meaningful time in startup or growth-stage environments.</li> <li>3+ years managing designers.</li> <li>Experience building or evolving a design system.</li> <li>Experience designing complex, workflow-heavy products.</li> <li>Comfortable operating at both strategic and executional levels.</li> </ul> <p>You are motivated by ownership and impact. You are comfortable working in environments where clarity must be created. You value craft and systems, but you also value speed and execution.</p> <p>You bring humility, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
