Role</span></h2> <p><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">The primary responsibilities of the Tax Manager, Crypto are to (a) coordinate and oversee the outsourced preparation of U.S. federal, state, local, and foreign income tax filings and investor reporting for our Crypto funds and affiliated entities, (b) provide tax support to deal teams regarding appropriate structuring for investments, operations, and exits, (c) respond to investor inquiries, (d) handle tax controversy matters for the funds and associated legal entities, and (e) ad hoc tax research.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">This role requires an in-office presence at least 2 days a week in our San Francisco, CA or Menlo Park, CA office.</span></p> <h2><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">To join our team, you should be excited to:</span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Manage tax compliance and reporting for crypto investment funds, including GAAP-to-§704(b) and tax basis conversions, quarterly estimates, and book-tax adjustments</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Advise on the U.S. federal income tax consequences of transactions (including transactions involving the trading of cryptocurrency tokens), and on tax structuring for crypto funds and general partner entities</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Prepare tax analyses supporting investment transactions and disposition decisions</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Coordinate with external advisors to prepare and review partnership tax returns and investor Schedules K-1</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Track flow-through investments and manage receipt and review of underlying fund K-1s</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Support international tax reporting, including CFC/PFIC analysis and foreign entity filings (e.g., Forms 5471, 8621, 926, 1042, 8804)</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Monitor crypto-related tax law developments and partner with tax leadership on firm and investor impact</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Manage tax notices, audits, and examinations in coordination with external advisors</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Drive process improvements through automation and implementation of tax technology solutions</span></li> </ul> <h2><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Minimum Qualifications</span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or comparable degree</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Advanced skills and experience with the U.S. federal income taxation of partnerships, particularly in the asset management industry such as venture capital funds and hedge funds</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Have a detailed understanding of U.S. foreign filing requirements and reporting obligations for private investment funds&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">CPA and/or MS Tax and/or JD strongly preferred</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Minimum 6+ years experience, in public accounting, a comparable industry role, or a combination of both</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Direct experience with crypto/digital asset taxation</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Have familiarity with and passion for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency markets and current knowledge of crypto tax regulations and emerging trends in the crypto space.</span></li> <li capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">The anticipated salary range for this role is between $179,000 - $209,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">This role
