In this role, you will provide community-based support and education to parents and caregivers of children with special needs and/or behavioral health needs in Malden and the surrounding areas.&nbsp;</p> <p>The ideal candidate is a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a youth with special needs and/or behavioral health needs, who uses their lived experience navigating child and family service systems to support and educate families currently in need.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide community-based support and education to parents/caregivers of children with special needs and/or behavioral health needs.</li> <li>Work with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation(ECMHC) staff, EEC program leadership and educators and families in developing measurable Family Partner goals in the Individualized Service Delivery Plan.</li> <li>Assist parents/caregivers in meeting the needs of the child through educating, supporting, coaching, modeling and guiding.</li> <li>Teach parents/caregivers how to connect to community resources and communicate with providers advocating for services and resources to meet a child’s needs.</li> <li>Assisting the team with developing measurable Family Partner goals in IEPs, and engaging parents/caregivers in activities to address those goals</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>High School diploma/GED with two (2) years of experience working with children and youth or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with one (1) or more years of experience working with children and youth</li> <li>Must be a parent, guardian or caregiver of a youth with special needs, and/or behavioral health needs.</li> <li>Experience in navigating children and families within the education system.</li> <li>Must have the ability to communicate with other parents in a supportive and non-judgmental manner regarding their needs.</li> <li>Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work and for providing services in the community</li> <li>Bilingual and bicultural skills are a plus.
