CareDx offers products, testing services, and digital healthcare solutions along the pre- and post-transplant patient journey, and is the leading provider of genomics-based information for transplant patients.   The Clinical Genetic Molecular Biological Scientist Intern (CGMBS Intern) performs a variety of laboratory and administrative tasks to obtain practical training hours in the CLIA-certified clinical laboratory here at CareDx. A CGMBS Intern performs laboratory duties under the supervision of a licensed CLS or the Clinical Laboratory Manager (CLM) and/or designee, who provides specific instruction and training regarding molecular techniques and bench tasks that are to be completed. This position serves as the practicum for the didactic portion of the CGMBS program through San Jose State University. As a training affiliate, this position prepares CGMBS Interns for completion of their program and qualifies them for the ASCP examination. Responsibilities: <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Perform patient specimen processing under the supervision of a licensed CLS.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks and setting up consumables in preparation of laboratory testing.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Assist the CLS in laboratory testing and train under them in molecular techniques.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Receive and accession samples into the laboratory information management system (LIMS) to facilitate sample throughput.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Perform instrument calibrations and maintenance.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Perform data entry and maintain spreadsheets</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Participate in materials management activities including tasks like ordering, receiving, unpacking, documenting, and labeling consumables and reagents, and stocking work areas.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Perform testing for special research and development studies and train to assist on commercial test offerings that apply to the topics listed in the internship training requirements.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Comply with CareDx quality control policies and document QC activities</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Maintain confidentiality of personal health information (PHI).</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Identify problems that may affect assigned duties, and following established protocols, correct problems or escalate to Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Manager, or lab Director.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Perform additional administrative duties and projects assigned by the Clinical Laboratory Manager.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing clinical laboratory operations.</li> </ul> Qualifications: <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Batchelor's Degree in a biology-related science is preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Acceptance into San Jose State University’s CGMBS Program of which we are a training affiliate.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Strong interpersonal skills</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Strong attention to details</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with CareDx employees at all levels</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Validate and current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Trainee license.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Aptitude for performance of molecular testing techniques (PCR, real-time PCR, etc.)</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Previous laboratory experience preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, within the work group</li> </ul> Additional Details:  Every individual at CareDx has a direct impact on our collective mission to improve the lives of organ transplant patients worldwide. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience within the job, the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
