<div class="content-intro"><p><strong>Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.</strong></p> <p><strong>We only consider candidates living locally or within the State of CA. &nbsp;We do not pay any relocation expenses.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p></div><p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>JOB SUMMARY<br></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">This position is under the direction of the Building Official, supervise, evaluate, train and coordinate the work of building inspectors performing inspection work in all phases of construction, alteration, and repair for compliance to approve plans, specifications, and state and local codes; to perform the more difficult or problem inspections; and to perform related work.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></span></p> <ul> <li id="isPasted" style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Perform field inspections of industrial, commercial and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to assure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Make field inspections when difficult enforcement or public relations problems arise or as directed by the Building Official.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">May supervise, assign, and lay out the work of construction inspectors engaged in the inspection of residential, commercial, industrial, and other buildings for conformance to Building Code.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Check methods of construction and quality of materials at building sites.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Investigate and resolve complaints.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Make recommendations for corrections and confer with contractors and builders to resolve violations of building and related codes.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Train, instruct, and evaluate inspectors in the proper procedures and techniques of inspection and the application and interpretation of Code provisions and departmental policies.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Provide plan checking services for compliance with applicable codes for minor projects, including, but not limited to, residential additions and accessory structures, and commercial, industrial tenant improvements.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Detect deviations from plans or specifications and standard construction practices.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Handle several tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to details in an environment of frequent interruptions. &nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Perform other related duties as required.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></span></p> <ul> <li id="isPasted" style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Combination Building Inspector – Residential and Commercial.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Residential Plans Examiner or ICC Commercial Building Examiner is preferred. All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">10+ years of experience in Building Inspection with a private or public agency is preferred.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">5+ years of experience as a Building Inspector II or equivalent.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Possess a high school diploma or GED.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Excellent verbal and written skills.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS</strong></span></p> <ul> <li id="isPasted" style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Require extensive physical exertion during on-site inspections.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Require physical flexibility &amp; dexterity, including the ability to continually stand, bend, stoop, reach, crouch and climb.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;
