We only consider candidates living locally or within the State of CA.  We do not pay any relocation expenses.  </div><h1>JOB SUMMARY</h1> This position is under direct supervision of the Building Official or the Building Inspector Supervisor.  Building Inspector inspects building and structures in all stages of construction. Building Inspectors shall be knowledgeable in the Building, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical and other codes and ordinances related to residential building construction and have the ability to review and understand construction plans. <h2>RESPONSIBILITIES</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Perform field inspections of residential and limited commercial structures during various stages of construction and remodeling to assure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Investigate and make reports on apparent violations of the applicable codes and regulations.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Provide code interpretation to the client, building professionals & the public.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Resolve problems and set priorities.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Read and interpret building plans, specifications and building codes.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Detect deviations from plans or specifications and standard construction practices.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain basic record keeping practices on paper or with a computer.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Handle several tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to details in an environment of frequent interruptions.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Work effectively with government entities, private interest, contractors and professional clientele.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Understand and carry out oral and written directions.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Perform other related duties as required.</li> </ul> <h2>QUALIFICATIONS</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Building Inspector or one (1) International Code Council (ICC) trade specific certifications (i.e. plumbing, electrical, or mechanical).
