and architecture for complex features across our business intelligence platform</li> <li>Take full ownership of end-to-end feature releases, platform enhancements, and system optimization initiatives</li> <li>Drive technical decision-making by conducting thorough analysis, evaluating trade-offs, and making data-driven architectural choices</li> <li>Architect and implement highly scalable cloud-based data services, APIs, ETL pipelines, and user interfaces</li> <li>Build mission-critical backend systems supporting analytics, reporting, and complex data query capabilities at scale</li> <li>Design and develop intuitive UI platforms and interactive dashboards for data visualization and business intelligence</li> <li>Champion engineering excellence by establishing and enforcing best practices, design patterns, and coding standards</li> <li>Optimize system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for scalability and reliability</li> <li>Define and maintain comprehensive test strategies, ensuring high code quality and test coverage</li> <li>Actively participate in ensuring Cohere maintains a disciplined approach to healthcare security, compliance, and data governance</li> <li>Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their technical growth and career development</li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally with product, <h4><strong>What you’ll need:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>You have extensive experience building and deploying production-grade backend systems, RESTful APIs, and modern web applications at scale</li> <li>You are passionate about technical excellence and architectural best practices, with a track record of building high-quality, maintainable systems</li> <li>You can lead technical initiatives from conception through delivery, making sound architectural decisions along the way</li> <li>You excel at breaking down complex problems into manageable solutions and can articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders</li> <li>You have a strong ownership mentality and take pride in the quality and impact of your work</li> <li>You can mentor and elevate other engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and knowledge sharing</li> <li>You have experience with system design, performance optimization, and building for scale</li> <li>You understand data modeling, query optimization, and best practices for working with large datasets</li> <li>You are a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and can balance velocity with quality</li> </ul> <p><strong>Must-haves</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development lifecycle</li> <li>Strong expertise in backend development using Python with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django</li> <li>Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture principles</li> <li>Proven experience building UI platforms using React and TypeScript/JavaScript, with strong understanding of modern frontend patterns and state management</li> <li>Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS) including services like Athena, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, or equivalent</li> <li>Demonstrated experience building data pipelines, ETL processes, or analytics platforms</li> <li>Strong proficiency with test frameworks such as pytest, Jest, Cypress, JUnit, or similar</li> <li>Experience with NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.) and understanding of when to use them</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of SQL and query optimization for large datasets and complex analytical queries</li> <li>Prior experience with Tableau APIs and BI tool integrations</li> <li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices</li> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice-to-haves</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience building applications using React and TypeScript</li> <li>Hands on experience leveraging test frameworks such as Cypress, Jest, Mocha, JUnit, or Cucumber</li> <li>Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems is a plus</li> <li>Prior experience in healthcare and life sciences is a plus, but not required</li> <li>Track
