As an EH&S Associate you will assist clients in protecting their employees, contractors, and customers and to safeguard the work and surrounding environment. Working under the direction of the client EH&S staff, the EH&S Associate will help to design, implement, and evaluate safety programs, testing and inspecting the operating environment, conducting training, and act as a delivery resource to support a robust EH&S operation. This hands-on role will also support the hazardous waste and regulated medical waste programs including waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material handling, inspections, and record keeping. This position reports to an EHS Manager. The position is onsite and will be based at clients in the metro NYC area. Responsibilities:  <ul> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Conduct workplace safety inspections according to a defined procedure, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment, such as respirators, respirators, protective eyewear, or hardhats, according to applicable regulations. These inspections will engage workers and observe their work.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Participate in safety inspections and examinations of machinery and equipment, such as lifting devices, machine guards, or scaffolding.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Identify and measure potential accident and health hazards, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixture, using calibrated scientific equipment and/or collecting samples according to a defined operating procedure. Then help implement appropriate control measures while updating standard operating procedures, such as adjustments to ventilation systems. As an example; measuring the effectiveness of engineered control systems such as fume hoods.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Help investigate accidents and injuries, identifying causes and recommending remedial action.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Write reports, including accident or ergonomic reports, and enter information on required Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordkeeping forms.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Communicate with client personnel regarding workplace environmental health and safety issues, communicating and implementing corrective actions.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Conduct routine EH&S safety trainings such as new employee orientation, hazard communication, and fork truck operation.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Assist in the development of specific areas of environmental and occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or updating policies, procedures, and manuals.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Support the hazardous waste and regulated medical waste programs including some waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material handling, inspections, and record keeping.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Rotating on-call responsibilities as part of our Emergency Response team (optional).</li> </ul> Basic Requirements:  <ul> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Self-motivated.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Willingness to work in a variety of industry settings, client cultures, and work locations.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must have a reliable form of transportation.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must be willing to consent to pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Ability to work overtime as needed.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday).</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">This position frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment.
