Guided by the mission to care for people through their skin, Tatcha takes a holistic approach to skincare from concept to formulation to clinical evaluation, offering skincare rituals that benefit both skin and mind, while emphasizing the importance of mindfulness to skin health.</div>Job Summary As a Packaging Development Manager, you will have a crucial role in the creation, design and execution of packaging & sets for Tatcha's diverse range of products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to creative, marketing, product development, R&D, and regulatory, to ensure the successful launch of innovative and visually appealing products. Your attention to detail, creativity, project management skills, technical expertise, and industry knowledge will contribute to enhancing the overall customer experience and brand image. Key Responsibilities Package Development <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Lead the development of packaging through the stage gate process for various product sets, ensuring alignment with brand.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Work closely with internal creative, marketing, supply chain, quality, warehouse teams and external partners to create visually striking and functional packaging solutions that reflect Tatcha’s identity and values.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to select suitable materials, converting processes, printing techniques, and finishes that meet quality standards and budget requirements. </li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Drive Sustainability initiatives.</li> </ul>  Sustainability <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Own packaging sustainability strategy, defining the standards, frameworks, and decision criteria that embed evolving regulatory, corporate, and environmental requirements into packaging development and supplier engagement. </li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Lead end-to-end development, validation, and submission of annual packaging sustainability performance disclosures, ensuring accuracy, audit-readiness, and alignment with regulatory expectations while proactively identifying gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Act as the sustainability subject-matter expert across the packaging development lifecycle, partnering with Supply Chain, R&D, and external suppliers to evaluate regulatory and material risks, assess trade-offs, and define mitigation strategies and alternative design pathways that balance compliance, performance, cost, and timelines.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Serve as the primary point of accountability for sustainability guidance deployment, ensuring timely, clear, and consistent communication of Regulatory and UL updates and driving cross-functional alignment on implications, timelines, and required actions.</li> </ul> Cross-Functional Collaborations <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support and drive engineering to understand product specifications, ingredients and packaging requirements to ensure optimal functionality and compatibility.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Coordinate with creative & product marketing to integrate packaging designs seamlessly into Tatcha initiatives.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Engage with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure packaging materials adhere to regulations and sustainability practices.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Manage development with filling sites during all steps of development to ensure the most efficient packaging for filling and assembly.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Partner with supply chain to determine best manufacturing partner for each component within each project.</li> </ul> Project Management <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Adhere to project timelines, milestones and deliverables to effectively manage end-to-end packaging development process.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Monitor project progress, identify potential bottlenecks and implement solutions to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain accurate documentation including but not limited to specifications, technical drawing, material documents, artwork, production standards and supplier communication.</li> </ul> Innovation and Trend Analysis <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies and innovative packaging solutions in the beauty and cosmetic sector.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Research and propose new ideas for packaging concepts that differentiate Tatcha products and enhance customer engagement.</li> </ul> Quality Control and Testing:  <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Oversee the testing and validation process of packaging to ensure they meet quality, durability and safety standards. </li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Develop in-depth assembly instructions to ensure ease of set assembly at the assembly site. </li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Address any issues related to packaging functionality, aesthetics or performance and implement improvements as needed.</li> </ul> Qualifications <ul> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">5+ years’ experience in Packaging Development, Design, or Engineering. Experience within the Beauty/Cosmetics or Personal Care Industry strongly preferred.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering or a related technical discipline.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Understanding the packaging regulatory, sustainability requirements, PPWR etc.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Able to read and approve engineering drawings.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Broad and in-depth knowledge of packaging materials and processes.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Knowledgeable of filling processes and contract manufacturing capabilities.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Self-motivated and self-disciplined individual, able to work in relative autonomy.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong communication skills, to be able to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and suppliers.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Excellent organizational skills to manage documentation, materials, and information.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proven Project Management skills.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">A strong analytical mindset with curiosity and ambition to learn more.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong passion for the beauty industry.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong PC skills; MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, CAD, SolidWorks skills as a strong plus.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Japanese/Chinese speaking as a plus.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week.</li> <li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Ability to travel (domestically or internationally) when required by strategic programs.</li> </ul> The Details The expected base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $125,000. The exact base pay is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget. This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan based on personal performance and company results.
