Today, Iterative Health is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and New York City with 250+ employees world-wide.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p></div><p><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Iterative Health looking for an experienced freelance Medical Writer to lead the development, finalization, and submission of peer-reviewed publications—including manuscripts, abstracts, and posters—as well as other scientific and medical communications such as white papers, posters, abstracts, and presentations.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt;">This role will partner closely with Iterative Health’s medical, scientific, and operational leaders, leading Cardiologists within our site network, physician consultants, and other scientific key opinion leaders to translate research and operational insights into high-quality, publication-ready materials.</span></p> <p><strong>Freelance/1099 role until the end of the year with potential opportunity for contract renewal in 2027. Expected approx 15 - 20 hours/week. Major deliverable includes two Q4 abstract submissions to Cardiology and GI peer-reviewed journals for 2027 publication.</strong></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><strong>Where You’ll Drive Impact&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Collaborate closely with internal medical, scientific, and operational leaders and external physician consultants and key opinion leaders to inform publication strategy and develop a short-term publication roadmap.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Lead the development and execution of publication plans, with a primary focus on manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and other peer-reviewed scientific communications.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Gather, evaluate, and conduct analysis to synthesize data from research studies, site-network performance, study results, and supporting documentation, translating complex findings into clear, accurate written summaries and compelling data visualizations.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Serve as the project owner for publication initiatives from project initiation through submission and publication, including developing project proposals, establishing timelines, coordinating stakeholders, and managing author and internal review processes.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Conduct comprehensive and efficient literature reviews to inform scientific context, industry benchmarks, claims, and publication strategy.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Analyze and synthesize internal data and literature findings and present initial insights to internal stakeholders and physician authors to align on the publication approach, key findings, and messaging.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Develop manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and other scientific communications in accordance with Iterative Health’s strategic priorities, journal and conference guidelines, and applicable publication and authorship standards.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Partner with Iterative Health’s Marketing team to translate scientific and publication plans into complementary external communications and educational content while maintaining scientific accuracy and appropriate alignment with publication standards.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Independently manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables, clear communication, and adherence to deadlines.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Build strong, collaborative relationships with physician authors, scientific leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Perform other duties and projects as assigned.</span></li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><strong>Qualifications</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Bachelor’s degree in the sciences, English, communications, or a related field.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Minimum of 5 years of experience developing medical or scientific publications, ideally within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, healthcare, clinical research, or medical communications environment.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Demonstrated experience authoring, editing, and submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed medical journals.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience managing publications from concept through submission and, ideally, through peer review and publication.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to translate complex scientific and operational data into clear, accurate, and compelling narratives appropriate for peer-reviewed publication.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong literature search, critical appraisal, scientific writing, and editing skills.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and keep projects moving toward publication.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively navigate feedback and differing perspectives from physician authors, scientific leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a freelance environment.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to manage urgent deadlines and changing priorities while maintaining quality and scientific rigor.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to work efficiently and manage projects within agreed-upon scope and budget.</span></li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience working within a medical communications agency, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, clinical research, or healthcare organization.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience developing publications in accordance with recognized publication and authorship standards, such as ICMJE recommendations and Good Publication Practice guidelines.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience developing abstracts and posters for major medical or scientific conferences.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Familiarity with Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and/or Obesity.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MPH, PharmD, PhD, MD) in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline.</span></li>
