Founded in 2017,</strong><strong>&nbsp;we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.</strong></p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><p><strong>Systems Design Engineer, Factory Systems Modeling</strong></p> <p>We are seeking a Systems Design Engineer to develop models for our battery refining and materials production processes. You'll apply first-principles modeling in custom software to create plant-scale models that maximize efficiency, detect equipment failures, and power soft sensors. The goal: design the world's most optimal factories through cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders and design teams.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities will include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Implement complex system models integrating mechanical, thermal, chemical, and control theories in custom software</li> <li>Design and implement control algorithms that optimize plant operations</li> <li>Own and maintain controls-plant model software in the loop tests</li> <li>Navigate cross-functional engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions</li> <li>Integrate live factory data into models to detect equipment anomalies</li> <li>Optimize plant efficiency through modeling support</li> <li>Apply knowledge of motors, pumps, sensors, actuators, and thermodynamic systems to accurately model plant behavior</li> <li>Design high-level control strategies informed by simulation and data analytics</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>M.S. in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience</li> <li>2+ years in Systems Design Engineering and first-principles modeling, preferably with multi-physics simulations</li> <li>Proficiency in Python and/or simulation software with functional software engineering skills</li> <li>Strong grasp of mechanical, electrical, and thermodynamic fundamentals</li> <li>Experience with complex system design</li> <li>Self-motivated, hands-on attitude with willingness to contribute at all levels</li> <li>Passion for sustainability and making the world better</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">The position is full-time.
