Join us!</p></div><p>Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the <strong>Sr. Manager, Accounting</strong> will play a key role in our accounting team, with a strong emphasis on SOX 404(b) compliance and equity (stock-based compensation) accounting. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls, as well as overseeing the accounting and reporting for equity transactions in a fast-paced, public company environment.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Oversee accounting for stock-based compensation, including stock options, RSUs, PSUs, and ESPP</li> <li>Ensure accurate and timely recognition of equity compensation expense in accordance with ASC 718</li> <li>Manage equity-related reports and data from Shareworks</li> <li>Review and validate fair value assumptions (e.g., Black-Scholes inputs, peer companies)</li> <li>Coordinate with Legal, HR, and external valuation specialists on equity grants and modifications</li> <li>Support preparation of equity disclosures for SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, proxy)</li> <li>Help lead the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of internal controls in compliance with SOX 404(b)</li> <li>Partner with internal and external auditors to support control walkthroughs, testing, and remediation efforts</li> <li>Evaluate control deficiencies and drive timely remediation plans</li> <li>Maintain and update process flowcharts, risk control matrices (RCMs), and control documentation</li> <li>Ensure readiness for external auditor attestation under SOX 404(b)</li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen control environment and ensure adherence to company policies</li> <li>Support month-end and quarter-end close processes related to equity and other assigned areas</li> <li>Support commercial-related initiatives that intersect with equity compensation and SOX controls, including evaluation of control impacts from new or evolving processes</li> <li>Perform other accounting, compliance, and internal control-related responsibilities as needed to support the company’s financial reporting and growth objectives</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, CPA License preferred</li> <li>Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience required, life science industry preferred</li> <li>Previous experience with Shareworks and NetSuite preferred</li> <li>Previous experience with equity administration and technical accounting required</li> <li>Previous experience with accounting in a publicly traded company required</li> <li>Experience supporting accounting or SOX considerations related to commercial operations, business process changes, or company scale-up initiatives preferred</li> <li>Deep, hands-on knowledge of SOX 404(b) requirements and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO)</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to present numeric data effectively</li> <li>Proven experience working with external auditors in a SOX-compliant environment</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information with sound judgment and discretion</li> <li>Intermediate-to-advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)</li> <li>Please note that you must come into the San Diego, CA office once a week</li> </ul> <p>The starting base pay range for this position is $145,940.00 - $171,503.00. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.</p> <p>Employees in this role may be entitled to additional compensation, including bonus and equity.
