As the world’s largest wish-granting organization, we strive to create a sense of community and an environment where we warmly embrace our wish families, volunteers, and colleagues.</p> <p>Joining Make-A-Wish means becoming part of a mission that believes in the power of a wish.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Location:</strong></p> <p><em>Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We do not sponsor employment visas or other immigration processes to attain or maintain employment eligibility.</em></p> <p><em>Remote positions are open to applicants based anywhere in the continental U.S. Hybrid positions are open to applicants based in the Phoenix, Arizona area.&nbsp;</em></p></div><p><strong>Position Summary: </strong></p> <p>Perform accounting functions for chapters who have elected to use Shared Financial Services (SFS) to ensure financials are recorded accurately and timely.</p> <p><strong>Knowledge and Abilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of financial accounting, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial statement preparation to ensure accurate, efficient, timely financial reporting and related processes.</li> <li>Effective verbal and written communication skills to network with other departments within the organization, as well as externally, regarding various issues related to the financial reporting process.</li> <li>Familiarity with audit planning processes and procedures.</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of accounting and information systems applications, preferably in a non-profit environment.</li> <li>Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality and possess strong business ethics.</li> <li>Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage time, prioritize, and effectively handle multiple assignments in a deadline driven environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Supports chapters in accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely processing.</li> <li>Reviews and approves donation batches that have integrated to NetSuite (financial system) from Salesforce (donor processing system).</li> <li>Prepares bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.</li> <li>Review trial balance for accuracy and completeness.</li> <li>Records and posts journal entries for monthly financial activity.</li> <li>Prepares and analyzes financial reporting package including monthly variance report.</li> <li>Reviews, researches, and analyzes data. Responds to inquiries from chapter staff.</li> <li>Assists with gathering of information and documents for annual audit process.
