CONTROLLER  Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits.  As Freeform’s Controller, you will own and execute our accounting operations. You will perform a wide variety of duties including spend tracking/forecasting, invoice payment, payroll, month-end closing, and tax compliance. You will also work with the engineering team on purchasing activities including supplier interaction, managing PO’s, and price negotiations. As Freeform scales, there will be tremendous opportunities to impact the operations, finance, and supply chain teams, so this role is perfect for a motivated professional looking join an exciting startup with a global vision.  <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sXfG6ssZ190?si=BUqisceRITI1c0w5" width="560" height="314"></iframe> Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead the accounting function, building the team, systems, and processes needed to support growth and scalability </li> <li>Oversee the general ledger, month-end close, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timely close, and strong reconciliations  </li> <li>Own all payment related activities such as vendor payments, leases, payroll, and more </li> <li>Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines </li> <li>Maintain tax documentation and ensure business taxes are properly categorized and filed </li> <li>Partner with engineering to ensure BOM accuracy and analyze manufacturing variances </li> <li>Analyze spend and recommend ideas to C-Suite to reduce costs related to categories such as capital equipment, industrial supplies, chemicals, raw material, as well as non-engineering categories  </li> <li>Provide reporting for board meetings, investor relations, and venture capital raises  </li> <li>Act as a force multiplier to executives as it relates to finance and accounting best practices; Strategize and execute ways to improve operational efficiency, reduce spend, and lower costs </li> </ul> Basic Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration  </li> <li>Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) </li> <li>5+ years of professional experience in accounting </li> <li>Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain environments </li> <li>Experience in inventory accounting, standard costing & cost accounting, WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and capex & fixed asset accounting </li> </ul> Nice to Have:  <ul> <li>Formal experience as a controller or senior accounting leadership role </li> <li>Big 4 accounting experience  </li> <li>Advanced degree in business, finance, or accounting </li> <li>Experience working in a high-growth or tech startup environment </li> <li>Experience with audit-readiness  </li> <li>Advanced Excel skills  </li> <li>Experience with QuickBooks and other ERP systems </li> <li>“No job too big or small” mindset </li> </ul> Location: <ul> <li> Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof.
