This role requires strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, a solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate closely with technical and functional experts. The Business Analyst investigates business challenges, identifies root causes, evaluates solution options, and translates business needs into clear, actionable requirements that guide product development and implementation. The ideal candidate is naturally inquisitive, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and skilled at connecting business needs with technical capabilities. Experience with educational technology, digital content publishing, and learning management systems is particularly valuable. <h3>What You'll Do</h3> Business Analysis & Critical Thinking <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Translate complex business needs into functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting specifications.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Collaborate on evaluating and prioritizing product enhancements, process improvements, and defects based on business impact.</li> </ul> Product Delivery & Validation <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Work closely with development teams to clarify requirements and provide functional guidance throughout implementation.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support the refinement of development work to ensure requirements are sufficiently defined and understood.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Develop test scenarios and participate in functional validation and user acceptance testing.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Evaluate delivered solutions against documented requirements and intended business outcomes.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Identify gaps, recommend adjustments, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support implementation, training, and rollout activities to ensure successful adoption.</li> </ul> Educational Technology & Content Publishing <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Analyze workflows related to digital curriculum, content publishing, course configuration, and distribution across educational platforms.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Collaborate with curriculum, academic, and technology experts to understand publishing processes, system dependencies, and content lifecycle requirements.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of course management and content distribution.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Evaluate workflows and integrations across Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and other instructional technologies.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support solution development involving course access, content availability, platform configuration, and system integrations.</li> </ul> Stakeholder Engagement & Communication <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Build collaborative relationships with business leaders, customers, functional experts, and technical teams.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Facilitate discussions that bring together different perspectives to analyze problems and develop shared solutions.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience in business analysis, systems analysis, product development, or a related technology-focused role.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Exceptional analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate complex challenges and develop actionable recommendations.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience with Clever, including rostering, application access, and educational technology integrations.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Knowledge of K–12 education, instructional workflows, curriculum operations, and school technology environments.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience with digital content lifecycle management, including content creation, publishing, versioning, deployment, and distribution.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Familiarity with Student Information Systems, such as PowerSchool, and integrations across educational platforms.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience working within Agile software development environments.</li> </ul> <h3>Work Environment</h3> This is a hybrid position requiring four days per week on-site in our McLean, VA office. The position requires frequent collaboration with business stakeholders, technical teams, and functional experts, with a strong emphasis on analytical problem-solving, solution development, and execution.
