Lactation Consultant- FT- Days @ LHAAMC at Luminis Health

<p><strong>Position Objective:</strong></p><p>Conducts bedside lactation rounds daily and consults with mothers having breastfeeding problems.</p><p><strong>Essential Job Duties:</strong></p><p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions</p><ol><li>When providing breastfeeding support and teaching to breastfeeding patients and families utilize&nbsp;knowledge of personality, counseling skills, and family and group theory.</li><li>Consistently and thoroughly&nbsp;assesses patients/families to collect data and identify learning needs&nbsp;according to established standards and policies.</li><li>Develops and individualizes a&nbsp;breastfeeding plan of care for each mother-baby couple in accordance with established standards, appropriate prioritization of problems/needs, and&nbsp;mutually agreed upon goals.</li><li>Continuously evaluates the&nbsp;effectiveness of the breastfeeding plan of care, making revisions and&nbsp;recommendations based on analysis of patient responses to interventions.</li><li>Participates appropriately in&nbsp;communication and decision-making activities of the lactation services and&nbsp;the maternal-child health service.</li><li>Selects appropriate breastfeeding&nbsp;related supplies for retail sale and for rental. Over-sees breast pump rentals and retail sales within lactation services.</li><li>Creates a milieu that promotes&nbsp;learning for staff and patients. plans, teaches and conducts in-service education for staff and students including orientation of new staff.</li><li>Plans, organizes and delivers&nbsp;lactation services to all breastfeeding patients, both in patient and out-patient.</li><li>Possesses excellent oral and&nbsp;written communications skills. Participates in unit shared&nbsp;&nbsp;governance according to departmental standards. Establishes&nbsp;effective collaborative relationships with other members of the health&nbsp;team as it relates to breastfeeding</li><li>Participates in quality assurance&nbsp;programs to monitor the caliber of the program. Oversees&nbsp;the financial performance of lactation services.</li></ol><p><strong>Educational/Experience Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Adherence to credentialing requirements of AAMC as stated in the nursing bylaws.</li><li>Current licensure as a registered nurse by Maryland Board of Nursing or current graduate of Medical School.</li></ul><p><strong>Required</strong><strong>License/Certifications:</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>equired</strong><strong>License/Certifications:</strong></p><ul><li>International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) certification</li><li>Registered Nurse license (for RN applicants)</li><li>Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:</strong></p><p>There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.</p><p>Physical Demands - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
