As an EHS Associate, you will assist clients in protecting their employees, contractors and customers and to safeguard the work and surrounding environment. Working under the direction of the client EHS staff, the EHS Associate will help to design, implement, and evaluate safety programs, testing and inspecting the operating environment, conducting training, and act as a delivery resource to support a robust EHS operation. This hands-on role will also support the hazardous waste and regulated medical waste programs including waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material handling, inspections, and record keeping. This role is onsite and is based at a client site in the greater Raleigh area.  This opening is to provide coverage for the 2nd Shift, 4:00pm to 12:00am. Essential responsibilities: <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Support the management of the hazardous waste and regulated medical waste programs including waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material movement, inspections, and record keeping.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Conduct workplace safety inspections according to a defined procedure, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment, such as respirators, respirators, protective eyewear, or hardhats, according to applicable regulations. These inspections will engage workers and observing their work.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Participate in the safety inspections and examinations of machinery and equipment, such as lifting devices and machine guards.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Identify and measure potential accident and health hazards, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixture, using calibrated scientific equipment and/or collecting samples according to a defined operating procedure. Then help implement appropriate control measures while updating standard operating procedures, such as adjustments to ventilation systems. As an example; measuring the effectiveness of engineered control systems such as fume hoods.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Assist to investigate accidents and injuries, identifying causes and recommending remedial action.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Write reports, including accident or ergonomic reports, and enter information on required Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordkeeping forms.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Communicate with client personnel regarding workplace environmental health and safety issues, communicating and implementing corrective actions.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Conduct routine EHS safety trainings such as new employee orientation, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Assist in the development of specific areas of environmental and occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or updating policies, procedures, and manuals.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Rotating on-call responsibilities as part of our Emergency Response team.</li> </ul> Basic Requirements: <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Bachelor’s degree or above in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">1+ years’ experience in an EHS capacity.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Excellent communication & customer service skills.</li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Detail orientation.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Problem solver with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Possess a valid driver's license and personal vehicle.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.</li> </ul>   <ul> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must be able to report to the Raleigh office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts. </li> </ul>   <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.</li> </ul> Preferred Requirements:   <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Completed two or more industry-recognized trainings (OSHA 10 or 30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, DOT/IATA HAZMAT Transportation).</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Active member in at least one national professional safety organization including local chapters.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Working towards meeting the requirements of and obtaining one professional designation/certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, etc.) and may be considering some postgraduate coursework and/or in the process of obtaining a master’s degree in health physics, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, ergonomics, or a related subject.</li> </ul> #LI-Onsite #LI-JB1 Besides Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, we contribute to a 401k, offer a generous tuition reimbursement program, TONS of safety training for some positions with opportunities for external trainings and certifications, Mentorship & Career Succession Planning, Relocation Opportunities, Auto/Home insurance discounts, pet assistance discount plans, discounted movie passes & more!   To learn more about our business, culture, and the exciting work that we are doing in the industry, find us on <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/triumvirate-environmental/posts/?feedView=all">LinkedIn, </a>Instagram (@triumvirateenvironmental), or our <a href="https://www.triumvirate.com/">website</a>!  Triumvirate Environmental is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
