Your Impact @ Ascend  SmartBidder is the leading energy bid optimization and scheduling platform for standalone, co-located, or hybrid renewable energy and storage projects.  SmartBidder provides custom bid optimization in day-ahead and real-time power markets through a suite of probabilistic and AI-assisted models, incorporating forecasted nodal price dynamics, asset-specific constraints, and risk-based optimization. From fully managed to self-service, SmartBidder customers have unparalleled control and flexibility to use built-in strategies based on profit and risk tolerance or integrate their own models into the platform.  Key Responsibilities <ul> <li>Lead quantitative analysis and work to deliver on-time results to clients </li> <li>Proficiency with fundamental modeling of electricity markets in support of electricity trading    </li> <li>Provide clients with expertise in the areas of analytic modeling for asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration </li> <li>Provide clients with expertise in energy-related commodity trading, energy markets quantitative analysis, electricity market operations, power structuring </li> <li>Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on market operations and strategies</li> <li>Participate in on-call rotations to support real-time market operations and ensure system reliability which may include occasional weekends or evenings</li> <li>Devise new approaches to represent results that provide support for decision analysis  </li> <li>Assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations  </li> <li>Perform in-depth analysis of power market operations  </li> <li>Solve complex analytic problems to make mission critical decisions for energy supply  </li> <li>Serve as a technical resource for scoping, building, deploying, and launch activities  </li> </ul> Key Qualifications Required <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering or energy required</li> <li>1+ years prior experience (5+ years of prior work experience for a Senior Analyst) in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit with a focus on energy</li> <li>Understanding of energy modeling systems and methods </li> <li>Command of wholesale power market structures and value streams     </li> <li>Demonstrated track record of working with clients and team    </li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, teamwork skills, organization and work ethics </li> <li>Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem solve with minimum supervision </li> <li>Strong analytical skills in analyzing and explaining complex data </li> </ul> Preferred <ul> <li>Master’s or advanced degrees in economics, engineering, and/or energy strongly preferred  </li> <li>Proficiency with analytic software programming (R, Python or other languages) preferred </li> <li>Previous experience in project management considered a plus   </li> <li>Knowledge of deregulated power market operations a plus  </li> </ul> Why Ascend? <ul> <li>Opportunity to lead a high-impact product at the forefront of the energy transition and power procurement innovation</li> <li>Direct exposure to executive leadership, key utility and corporate clients, and a rapidly scaling SaaS business</li> <li>Meaningful impact on APP platform evolution, analytical rigor, and client procurement outcomes</li> <li>Competitive compensation and benefits</li> </ul> $80,000 - $110,000 – Energy Analyst   $100,000 - $140,000 – Senior Analyst       Compensation is flexible and will be tailored to your experience and background.
