Connectivity Engineering designs, builds and operates the network backbone that keeps Nubank’s products <strong>securely available to customers around the world</strong> and <strong>enables our expansion into new countries and partners</strong>.</p> <p>In this role, you will have <strong>end‑to‑end ownership</strong> across architecture, delivery and operations for regulatory connectivity, product connectivity and third‑party integrations, supporting both on‑premises and cloud environments in a highly available and regulated context. You will help shape our connectivity roadmap, lead critical initiatives, and support the growth of other engineers while remaining hands‑on in production.</p> <p>You will also play a key role in our <strong>multi‑year journey</strong> to evolve from traditionally managed networking toward an <strong>automation‑, observability‑ and governance‑first connectivity stack</strong>, including responsible use of AI to improve reliability and operations.<br><br></p> <h2><strong>What You Will Do</strong></h2> <p>You will:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Design and implement</strong> scalable, resilient network solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements.</li> <li><strong>Own High‑Level and Low‑Level Designs (HLD/LLD)</strong> for connectivity initiatives across data centers, WAN, cloud edge and partners.</li> <li><strong>Build and evolve</strong> data center and WAN connectivity platforms (including VXLAN/EVPN fabrics), ensuring reliability, performance and observability at scale.</li> <li>Support production environments with <strong>incident troubleshooting, change execution and root cause analysis</strong>, including participation in a <strong>weekly on‑call rotation</strong>.</li> <li>Manage and improve <strong>network observability and monitoring</strong>, analyze performance and implement optimizations for speed, reliability and efficiency.</li> <li>Conduct <strong>network risk assessments and audits</strong>, helping ensure compliance with Nubank’s security policies and regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Drive <strong>automation and observability initiatives</strong>, helping us move from manual processes to automation‑ and observability‑driven operations over time.</li> <li>Collaborate with <strong>Cloud, Security, Infrastructure and Product teams</strong>, vendors and partners, improving documentation, standards and operational practices, and <strong>mentoring less senior engineers</strong>.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What We Are Looking For</strong></h2> <h3><strong>Must‑have</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>5+ years of hands‑on experience</strong> as a Network Engineer (or similar role) designing and operating production networks at scale.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Networking fundamentals (hands‑on experience):</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Layer 2:</strong> VLANs, STP, LACP, port security.</li> <li><strong>Layer 3:</strong> Strong experience with BGP (iBGP/eBGP) and OSPF; exposure to <strong>VXLAN</strong>; IPv6 experience in production is a strong plus.</li> <li><strong>High availability:</strong> Design and operation of redundant topologies using protocols such as HSRP/VRRP and fast convergence techniques.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Network security and services:</strong></p> <ul> <li>ACLs, route‑maps, prefix‑lists, NAT, VPN (IPSec-based, such as DMVPN or similar), GRE.</li> <li>Solid experience operating <strong>Next‑Gen Firewalls</strong>, ideally <strong>Palo Alto and/or Fortinet</strong> (policy design, HA, troubleshooting).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Infrastructure and connectivity:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with <strong>WAN technologies</strong> such as MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, SD‑WAN or Carrier Ethernet (strong depth in several of them).</li> <li>Understanding of <strong>data center architectures</strong>, preferably spine‑leaf, and their operational implications.</li> <li>Knowledge of <strong>VXLAN/EVPN fabrics</strong> for data center architectures.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of core network services and protocols: <strong>DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, AAA, TCP/IP</strong>.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>QoS mechanisms</strong> (classification/marking, queuing, shaping) to manage performance and prioritize critical traffic in WAN and data center environments.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Platforms, tooling and operations:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hands‑on experience with <strong>enterprise load balancers</strong> (e.g., F5 BIG‑IP LTM/GTM or equivalent).</li> <li>Experience in <strong>multi‑vendor environments</strong> (e.g., Juniper, Cisco, etc.).</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>monitoring/observability tools</strong> (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ThousandEyes or similar).</li> <li>Strong <strong>production operations experience</strong>: troubleshooting and incident handling, change and problem management, and <strong>packet‑level analysis</strong> (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark) to diagnose complex network and application‑layer issues.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Ways of working:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience working in an <strong>Agile environment</strong> (e.g., Scrum or Kanban), collaborating with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Nice‑to‑have</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience with <strong>network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)</strong> using tools such as <strong>Terraform, Ansible and Python</strong> for automated network provisioning and configuration.</li> <li><strong>Cloud networking</strong> experience (AWS or similar), including VPC design, hybrid connectivity and security controls.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>Kubernetes or modern platform environments</strong>, especially in how they interact with underlying network and security layers.</li> <li>Exposure to <strong>financial systems and networks</strong> (e.g., SPEI, DIMO or similar payment/clearing systems).</li> <li>Certifications such as <strong>CCNP, JNCIP, AWS</strong> or equivalent (valued but not mandatory).</li> <li>Experience with security tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM) and integrating network telemetry into security monitoring.</li> <li>Exposure to <strong>AI/ML applications in networking</strong> (e.g., anomaly detection, traffic analysis, predictive capacity planning), and interest in helping identify realistic, high‑impact use cases for these capabilities in our environment.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>How You Operate</strong></h2> <p>You will fit well if you:</p> <ul> <li>Have a strong <strong>sense of ownership and accountability</strong> over systems, platforms and outcomes.</li> <li>Are comfortable <strong>navigating ambiguity</strong>, connecting the dots and driving solutions end‑to‑end.</li> <li>Communicate <strong>clearly and proactively</strong> with teams, regions and stakeholders, tailoring your message to the audience.</li> <li>Balance <strong>hands‑on execution</strong> with <strong>architectural thinking</strong>, knowing when to deep‑dive and when to guide.</li> <li>Collaborate effectively with peers, vendors and cross‑functional teams, valuing feedback, documentation and knowledge sharing.</li> <li>Enjoy <strong>mentoring and supporting other engineers</strong>, helping them grow technically and in how they operate.</li> <li>Demonstrate strong <strong>crisis management</strong>, with fast and assertive responses during high‑severity incidents.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Role Location &amp;
