This highly motivated, data-driven individual will be responsible for managing multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including preparing and filing returns, managing audits, and ensuring the company’s tax systems are accurate and up to date. This role offers a hybrid work model, after 90 days, and is based out of our Corporate office in Somerville, MA. <h2>Responsibilities:</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Prepare and file multiple State Sales and Use tax returns with the potential of expanding across all 50 States as well as Canada and beyond.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Process and ensure all tax payments are made timely and accurately.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Manage registrations and compliance as the company moves into new jurisdictions.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Manage Business Licenses renewals throughout the organization.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Research changes to local/county/state sales and use tax law keeping company in compliance.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Manage the Vertex tax integration to make sure sales tax rules and nexus are up-to-date and correct.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Research and interpret tax compliance.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Manage State Sales and Use audits working with internal teams to prepare documentation for Audit.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Maintain/manage all Property and Real Estate returns and payments throughout the organization.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Ability to work with internal stakeholders and clients regarding tax questions in a clear and precise manner.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Assist in maintaining and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are accurate and up-to-date.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and accruals.</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.</li> </ul> <h2>Basic Requirements:</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance or related field</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">3+years of Sales and Use tax processing</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V/H/XLOOKUP, complex formulas)</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Sales tax audit defense and state agency correspondence</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Ability to multitask and be detail-oriented</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Ability to research and interpret tax law</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship</li> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Must have a reliable form of transportation</li> </ul> <h2>Preferred Requirements:</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;">Experience with Vertex and Oracle preferred </li> </ul> #LI-Hybrid #LI-CD1 Besides Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, we contribute to a 401k, offer a generous tuition reimbursement program, TONS of safety training for some positions with opportunities for external trainings and certifications, Mentorship & Career Succession Planning, Relocation Opportunities, Auto/Home insurance discounts, pet assistance discount plans, discounted movie passes & more!
