<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Job Summary:</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Due to growth, HonorBridge is recruiting for a Tissue Recovery Specialist to work in our new facility in Chapel Hill. The Tissue Recovery Specialist works in an operating room setting for the surgical recovery of donated tissue. This position provides on the the job training. The ideal candidate has 1 year of experience in the medical field and is passionate about making an impact in the lives of others. EMTs, EMS, Paramedics, Surgical Technologist / Technicians, Patient Care Techs, Operating Room Tech, or other health care workers who truly want to make an impact every day are strongly encouraged to apply!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span class="u-regular-font">*</span><span class="u-regular-font">*</span><span class="u-regular-font">Per diem staff are re</span><span class="u-regular-font">quired to give 8 primary shifts a month (days and nights) of availability with at least 4 being weekend shifts, during their training period. In addition, they are required to give 13 days a month of availability. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>What you’ll be doing: </strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><em>Recovery Specialist</em></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Perform tissue recovery in an operating room setting.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrate and learn proper aseptic and surgical technique.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrate and learn skillful use of surgical instrumentation and equipment.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Perform operating room setup ensuring correct supplies are documented and utilized for the specific tissue recovery.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Reports low levels of stock and maintain an organized supply storage area</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Completes daily, weekly, monthly, and terminal cleaning of clinical space.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Performs pre and post cleaning of operating room.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><em>OR Lead</em></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Collaborates with the recovery team in a professional manner</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Works with a team to achieve a high level of efficiency and cooperation.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Aseptically packages recovered tissue and ships tissue</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Performs the recovery of additional tissue types, aortic iliac and heart for valve tissue</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Completes case documentation completely and accurately.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Performs follow-up according to established standards and policies</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Documents case related data and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><em>Donation Coordinator</em></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Coordinates the overall Tissue Donation process.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Communicates effectively to hospitals, funeral homes, transporters, and partners</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Coordinates with the Tissue Administrator on Call, Call Center, and the Recovery Teams</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Packs supplies, ships tissues or assist in the operating room</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Complies with quality assurance policies and procedures</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Collects documentation in donor record and organizes material</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Utilizes EMR systems to upload donor’s medical record</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Maintains electronic medical record (EMR) access to available hospitals.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Utilizes medical information from remote EMR access to obtain and review available medical records.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Maintains confidentiality of all patient and donor/recipient information</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><em>Additional Responsibilities:</em></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Participates in staff meetings, continuing education opportunities and educational skills/wet labs</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Utilizes technology such as Microsoft software, donation software documentation, copier/fax machines and EMR systems.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Assists with training and the development of other team members</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Engages in process improvement projects and other lean tools to improve the tissue donation process</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong> </strong><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">lifts, positions, pushes and /or transfers donors and / or supplies < 20lbs: Greater than 65% of the time</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">lifts, positions, pushes and /or transfers donors and / or supplies < 50lbs: Less than 35% of the time</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">lifts, positions, pushes and /or transfers donors and / or supplies < 100lbs: Less than 35% of the time</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Work Environment:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Prolonged sitting and prolonged standing</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Some travel within service area is required.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>What we are looking for:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">One year of experience in a clinical environment.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Surgical tech background or Surgical Technologist / Technicians, Patient Care Techs, Operating Room Tech experience preferred but not required.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Associates degree with a concentration in healthcare is strongly preferred but not required.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Individuals are required to become CTBS certified within 2 years of successfully completing training</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong interpersonal and communication skills</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to function in high-pressure situations.</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience in form completion and documentation</span></li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Valid state driver’s license required. </span></li>
