<p><strong>Mine Safety Engineer</strong></p> <p><strong>Location: Hammerfest Municipality (Kvalsund), Finnmark, Norway</strong></p> <p><strong>Company: Blue Moon Metals Inc. (Nussir ASA)</strong></p> <p><strong>Mine Type: Underground Copper Mine</strong></p> <p><strong>Project Status: Early-stage Construction moving to Operations</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p> <p>We are looking for a <strong>Mine Safety Engineer</strong>, for the <a href="https://bluemoonmetals.com/project/nussir/">Nussir Project</a>.&nbsp; The project is currently advancing through full-scale underground construction and preparing to move into the operations phase in late 2027.</p> <p>In this dual-phase role, you will initially oversee safety during underground construction<strong>, including</strong> <strong>horizontal and vertical development</strong>.&nbsp; As the project transitions, you will establish, scale, and manage the day-to-day operational safety systems for a long-life, underground asset.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p><strong>Construction Phase Execution (Immediate focus)</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Contractor Safety Management:</strong> Partner with and audit major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors having deliveries underground to ensure alignment with corporate and local safety cultures.</li> <li><strong>Excavation &amp; Structural Oversight:</strong> Support mining team, including contractors,&nbsp; in performing &nbsp;structural and ground control safety assessments along the growing decline, conveyor tunnels, and silo tunnel networks.</li> <li><strong>Commissioning Risk Analysis:</strong> Lead Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PHSR) and risk assessments for the installation and no-load commissioning of fixed and semi fixed machinery (mobile/semimobile crushers, conveyor belts, main pumping station installation and other).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Operational Phase Strategy (Long-term focus)</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Underground Systems Management:</strong> Design, calibrate, and monitor critical safety systems including mine ventilation shafts, toxic gas detection arrays, blast clearances, and autonomous/collision warning equipment.</li> <li><strong>Regulatory Compliance:</strong> Interpret and ensure strict adherence to Norwegian mineral and labor laws under the <a href="https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/blue-moon-metals-awards-epc-contract-for-nussir-processing-plant-and-receives-approval-of-waste-management-plan-final-mine-plan-and-extended-discharge-permit-850508956.html">Norwegian Directorate of Mines (Direktoratet for mineralforvaltning)</a> and <em>Arbeidstilsynet</em> (Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority).</li> <li><strong>Culture &amp; Training:</strong> &nbsp;Ensure, and support development and delivery of customized safety training programs for both underground production crews and surface maintenance teams to foster an incident-free mindset.</li> <li><strong>Emergency Preparedness:</strong> Author, test, and adapt the underground emergency response plan, mine rescue protocols, and evacuation drill strategies.</li> <li><strong>Incident Management:</strong> Lead all incident and near-miss root cause investigations, mapping corrective action pathways to ensure zero repetition.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Requirements</strong></p> <p><strong>Education &amp; Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Occupational Health &amp; Safety.</li> <li><strong>Experience:</strong> Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in heavy industrial environments, with at least 3 years directly focused on <strong>underground mine operations or underground civil tunneling</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Phase Exposure:</strong> Proven experience navigating the transition of an industrial asset from heavy construction/handover through to steady-state operations is highly valued.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical &amp; Regulatory Competencies</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Local Legislation:</strong> Solid familiarity with Norwegian health and safety regulations (<em>Arbeidsmiljøloven</em>) and Nordic mining practices is highly advantageous.</li> <li><strong>Industry Standards:</strong> Deep understanding of international machinery safety standards and risk management methodologies (e.g., ISO 45001, IEC 61508).</li> <li><strong>Languages:</strong> Business-level fluency in English is mandatory;
