The Opportunity  We are seeking a strong, student-centered Founding 8th Grade Math Teacher to help launch PHP’s first year serving 8th grade students. This is a meaningful opportunity for an educator with strong math content knowledge, excellent classroom management, and a deep commitment to preparing students for a successful transition to high school. Using the Eureka Math curriculum, this teacher will deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction that builds students’ conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, confidence, and readiness for the academic demands of high school. As a founding 8th grade teacher, you will also help shape the culture, expectations, and instructional foundation for PHP’s oldest students. The ideal candidate believes deeply in the potential of all students, creates a classroom that is structured, joyful, and academically ambitious, and is excited to support students during a pivotal transition year. What you’ll do Math Instruction & Student Support <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Deliver rigorous, standards-based 8th grade math instruction using the Eureka Math curriculum</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Build students’ conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Create a structured, engaging classroom culture with clear expectations, strong routines, and high levels of student engagement and accountability.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Differentiate instruction to meet a range of student needs, including intervention, acceleration, and enrichment</li> </ul> Founding 8th Grade Culture & High School Readiness <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Help establish the culture, routines, traditions, and expectations for PHP’s first 8th grade class</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Support students in developing the academic habits, confidence, and self-advocacy skills needed for high school</li> </ul> Planning, Assessment & Data Use <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Internalize and prepare Eureka Math lessons to ensure instruction is clear, purposeful, and responsive to student needs</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Use student work, formative assessments, and summative data to identify misconceptions, adjust instruction, and plan targeted reteaching </li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Identify student strengths, misconceptions, and gaps in order to plan targeted support</li> </ul> Collaboration and Family Engagement <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Collaborate with grade-level, content, special education, multilingual learner, and leadership teams to support student success</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Partner with families to communicate student progress, strengths, and areas for growth</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Contribute to a positive school culture rooted in care, accountability, and shared responsibility</li> </ul> Professional Responsibilities <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Model Hebrew Public’s OLAM values: outstanding problem solving, continuous learning, making a difference, and intentional communication</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Participate in intellectual preparation, coaching cycles, classroom observations, and feedback conversations</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Engage in ongoing professional development and actively seek feedback to improve practice</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Align your work with school-wide priorities and strategic initiatives</li> </ul> Who you are <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Deep belief in the limitless potential of all students and commitment to helping them thrive as global citizens.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. </li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Pennsylvania Math teacher certification, or active progress toward certification, preferred.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong math content knowledge and ability to make grade-level concepts accessible, engaging, and rigorous for all learners.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience working in urban school communities and a commitment to building strong relationships with students, families, and staff is preferred.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience using Eureka Math or another high-quality instructional math curriculum preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to build clear routines, high expectations, and a positive classroom culture.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to use student data to adjust instruction, address misconceptions, and accelerate growth.</li> </ul> Career Development and Support At PHP, teachers are not expected to grow alone.
