<p><strong><br>Senior Tax Accountant | Indianapolis, IN</strong></p> <p>Join our growing Tax team at Thompson Thrift as a Senior Tax Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented tax professional who thrives in a collaborative real estate environment. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Tax, you will play a vital role in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing tax compliance and provision work.</p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist with fixed asset reconciliation.</li> <li>Conduct research on new tax jurisdictions (e.g., pass-through, franchise/excise, sales/use, and other specialty taxes).</li> <li>Support property disposition calculations and assess tax implications.</li> <li>Participate in tax busy season tasks: compile and review trial balances, prepare investor lists, coordinate with CPA firms, distribute Schedule K-1s, and manage signature collection and processing.</li> <li>Prepare tax workpapers for various entities including operating corporations, construction, and development companies.</li> <li>Assist in audit defense and manage inquiries from taxing authorities.</li> <li>Prepare business personal property tax returns.</li> <li>Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.</li> <li>Contribute to developing efficient tax strategies that minimize liabilities.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Our Ideal Candidate for this Role:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.</li> <li>4–6 years of progressive tax experience; background in state and local taxes and real estate or construction industry preferred.</li> <li>2–4&nbsp;years in a public accounting firm.</li> <li>CPA license (or actively pursuing) strongly preferred.</li> <li>Proficiency with tax and ERP systems such as OneSource, CorpTax, or SAP.</li> <li>Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Sound knowledge of:</li> <ul> <li>Tax compliance for Real Estate Partnerships and S-corporations</li> <li>State and local tax allocation and apportionment</li> <li>Partnership structures in real estate transactions&nbsp;</li> <li>MACRS/ADS depreciation methods for real estate assets</li> <li>Sales and use tax in construction and real estate</li> </ul> </ul> <p>Be part of a team that values excellence, leadership, and service.
