About the Role

<div class="content-intro"><p>ON.energy<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>is setting the standard for large load interconnection. ON’s patented AI UPS™ is a medium-voltage UPS that serves as a firewall, protecting the data center from the grid, and the grid from the data center.&nbsp;With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers.&nbsp;</p></div><p>The EMS team is looking for a SCADA Engineer to own the core configuration of our SCADA platform in&nbsp;Ignition, primarily tag structures, UDT setup, and communication with field devices. This person will&nbsp;support the HMI team and the controls team by developing tools that speed up SCADA configuration,&nbsp;deployment, and ongoing support of our current and evolving SCADA solution across battery energy&nbsp;storage systems (BESS) and grid connected assets.</p> <p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Configure and maintain SCADA tags, UDTs (User Defined Types), and device connections in Ignition, ensuring a&nbsp;consistent and scalable foundation across sites.</li> <li>Design and maintain MQTT based communication for SCADA, including broker configuration, topic structure,&nbsp;and integration with Ignition.</li> <li>Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs and other field devices across BESS and grid connected inverter topologies,&nbsp;using protocols such as MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, and DNP3.</li> <li>Build and maintain tools that support the HMI team, such as automated UDT and tag generation, configuration&nbsp;templates, and data validation utilities.</li> <li>Build and maintain tools that support the controls team, such as scripts for point checkout, configuration&nbsp;comparison, and deployment automation.</li> <li>Identify and implement improvements to the efficiency, performance, and reliability of the current SCADA&nbsp;configuration and deployment process as it continues to develop and scale.</li> <li>Troubleshoot SCADA and communication issues in both development and live production environments,&nbsp;including field support as needed.</li> <li>Support commissioning activities, including point to point checkout, alarm validation, and system testing.</li> <li>Document SCADA configuration standards, tag maps, and MQTT topic structures to support long term&nbsp;maintainability.</li> <li>Participate in the ongoing development of company alarm management and SCADA standards.</li> <li>Design and maintain scalable SCADA architectures across OT, DMZ, and Cloud environments, including Ignition</li> <li>Gateway Network, Remote Tag Providers, MQTT infrastructure, and historian integrations.</li> <li>Participate in architecture reviews and propose improvements that increase system reliability, maintainability,&nbsp;and scalability.</li> <li>Analyze and optimize SCADA performance, including tag execution rates, historian throughput, Gateway</li> <li>Network traffic, database performance, MQTT publish rates, and overall system resource utilization.</li> <li>Perform root cause analysis for latency, communication bottlenecks, and data quality issues across distributed&nbsp;SCADA systems.</li> <li>Design, configure, and validate redundant SCADA architectures, including Ignition redundancy, redundant MQTT&nbsp;brokers, historian failover, and communication resiliency.</li> <li>Execute disaster recovery and failover testing procedures to ensure high system availability.</li> <li>Design and maintain historical data strategies using Ignition Tag Historian and SQL databases.</li> <li>Optimize historian storage, retention policies, data compression, and historical query performance.</li> </ul> <p><strong>REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or&nbsp;equivalent practical experience.</li> <li>2 - 5 years of hands on experience with Ignition, including tag configuration, UDT setup, device connections, and scripting.</li> <li>Experience with the Vision or Perspective modules is a plus but not the focus of this role.</li> <li>Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, or DNP3.</li> <li>Experience building or maintaining scripts or tools that support configuration, deployment, or validation of&nbsp;SCADA systems.</li> <li>Strong troubleshooting skills across both software and field level hardware issues.</li> <li>Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical work for both technical&nbsp;and non technical audiences.</li> </ul> <p><strong>PREFERRED</strong></p> <ul> <li>Understanding of PLC based control systems and the ability to read and interpret control logic.</li> <li>Familiarity with Siemens PLC platforms.</li> <li>Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or renewable energy assets.</li> <li>Experience with SQL databases and historian systems.</li> <li>Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar work tracking tools for engineering documentation and issue&nbsp;management.</li> <li>Knowledge of alarm management standards such as ISA 18.2.</li> <li>Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, given cross functional coordination with regional teams.</li> </ul> <div> <div> <p>#LI-AD1</p> </div> </div><div class="content-conclusion"><hr> <p><strong>For US-based roles -
