<h2>Role Overview</h2>
<p>The Student Support Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the well-being, resilience, and campus engagement of Jewish students at Brooklyn College. As a visible and trusted presence within Tanger Hillel, this professional will provide direct support to students navigating academic, emotional, financial, and identity-related challenges, while also fostering a proactive culture of wellness and inclusion. The ideal candidate is approachable, collaborative, and deeply committed to empowering students through both individual connection and creative outreach.</p>
<h2>What You’ll Do</h2>
<ul>
<li>Serve as a welcoming resource for students navigating academic, emotional, financial, or identity-related challenges.</li>
<li>Build relationships with students from diverse backgrounds, connecting them to wellness resources, referrals, and Hillel programs.</li>
<li>Conduct needs assessments and provide culturally sensitive referrals for scholarships, food access, career support, and mental health services.</li>
<li>Assist students in navigating campus systems, including reporting antisemitism, anti-Zionism, and other well-being concerns, and connect them with partner organizations.</li>
<li>Facilitate wellness workshops, support groups, and identity-based initiatives with interns and student leaders.</li>
<li>Coordinate outreach and engagement during high-stress times (midterms, finals, or campus conflicts), including pop-up events, peer-led initiatives, and informal engagement like drop-ins or coffee chats.<br>Collaborate with Hillel staff, campus departments, clubs, and community partners to integrate wellness into Jewish life and co-sponsor programs that promote belonging.</li>
<li>Manage communications, documentation, and follow-up related to student support and wellness initiatives.</li>
</ul>
<h2>What You’ll Bring to the Job</h2>
<ul>
<li>Master of Social Work (MSW) required.</li>
<li>0-4 years of relevant professional experience. </li>
<li>Passion for student wellness and fostering an inclusive campus community.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.</li>
<li>Experience facilitating workshops, support groups, or peer-led initiatives.</li>
<li>Creativity and initiative to engage students who may not typically seek support.</li>
</ul>
<h2>What You’ll Receive</h2>
<ul>
<li>Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000</li>
