Measures of Success <ul> <li>Full understanding of relevant Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and the ability to follow all parameters within. </li> <li data-leveltext="-" data-font="Calibri" data-listid="7" data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="1">Timely completion of all welding operations within the operational time limits and according to company quality protocols. </li> <li data-leveltext="-" data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="1">Capability of welding fillet and groove welds without backing in both the horizontal and flat positions. </li> <li data-leveltext="-" data-font="Calibri" data-listid="7" data-list-defn-props="{"134224900":false,"335551671":0,"335552541":1,"335559685":720,"335559991":360,"469769226":"Calibri","469769242":[8226],"469777803":"left","469777804":"-","469777815":"hybridMultilevel"}" data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="1">Ability to resolve minor welding and fit-up issues with minimal guidance. </li> </ul> Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: <ul> <li>Works mostly independently using drawings, specifications, WPS and verbal instructions. </li> <li>Uses various types of welding equipment and a variety of common hand and power tools. </li> <li>Performs fit up and fully welds a variety of tank and heat exchanger subassemblies including standard and custom fabrications, with minimal guidance, by reading and interpreting standard and custom part drawings.</li> <li>Performs final welding operations on complex weldments that have been fit up by others.</li> <li>Performs extensive final welding operations for long periods of time in awkward positions or at elevated heights.</li> <li>Uses FCAW/GMAW welding process, with or without backing, in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions, on both steel and stainless-steel materials.</li> <li>Welds full penetration welds on small diameter pipe using the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process.</li> <li>Uses a scissor lift when needed to access welding work at heights.</li> <li>With assistance and supervision, may perform more complicated welding and fit up, using various equipment.</li> <li>Reads appropriate Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and is capable of interpreting welding variables and assures that all parameters within the WPS are adhered to.</li> <li>Monitors quality of work makes corrective adjustments and reports equipment malfunctions, defective materials or other unusual conditions to Supervisor.</li> <li>Maintains necessary records, completes transactions within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and accesses company intranet as needed for work instructions.</li> <li>Maintains work area in neat, clean, and orderly condition and observes all safety regulations and practices.</li> <li>Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.</li> </ul> Qualifications Required: <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent</li> <li data-leveltext="-" data-font="Calibri" data-listid="7" data-list-defn-props="{"134224900":false,"335551671":0,"335552541":1,"335559685":720,"335559991":360,"469769226":"Calibri","469769242":[8226],"469777803":"left","469777804":"-","469777815":"hybridMultilevel"}" data-aria-posinset="5" data-aria-level="1">Must be able to pass American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section IX welding tests with the following variables:    <ul> <li>FCAW/GMAW and SAW processes</li> <li>Steel-steel, steel-stainless, stainless-stainless material</li> <li>Flat, horizontal and vertical positions</li> <li>With or without backing</li> <li>Small pipe diameter in rotated horizontal position</li> </ul> </li> <li>3+ years of welding experience using drawings, specifications, charts and welding equipment </li> <li>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and effectively apply to assigned work </li> <li>Ability to navigate multiple windows in company ERP system to access production and resource data</li> <li>Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity and including standing and lifting for extended periods of time, sometimes at height of up to 10 feet</li> <li>Requires judgment to comply with instructions, solve problems, and the ability to solve minor technical issues without guidance</li> <li>Minimal/No travel required</li> </ul> Preferred <ul> <li>Graduate of a welding and fabrication vocational or technical training program  </li> <li>12 months experience in a pipe, pressure vessel or structural welding shop </li> </ul> Work Environment This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent.  Safety gear is required in these areas. This position reports into the site every day.
