If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now!</div><h4>What you’ll do</h4> Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: <ul> <li>Assume responsibility for the design release of the Interior Cockpit System including Door Trim components/assemblies and their integration into the vehicle. This includes system sourcing, packaging, drawing release, design validation, sub-system integration, ramp-up, and manufacturing support </li> <li>Collaborate closely with the design studio and other engineering teams to develop optimal packages for interior styling </li> <li>Work closely with the CAE team to provide design inputs and utilize CAE results to optimize the component design and performance </li> <li>Use CAD software, to package components efficiently and robustly, optimizing for cost, weight, and commercial targets </li> <li>Apply program management skills to ensure suppliers meet timing, quality, cost, and validation deliverables, serving as the main point of contact for all supplier interfaces </li> <li>Ensure that failure avoidance tools and processes (DFMEA/FMA) are applied to all components/assemblies </li> <li>Develop and manage the validation plan and test labs ensuring all components and sub-systems meet necessary performance requirements and regulations </li> <li>Oversee supplier component DVP and control system level testing to ensure desired performance is achieved </li> <li>Analyze test results and identify necessary adjustments to the components/assemblies or interfacing components to achieve the most effective resolution </li> <li>Review and approve technical content of related changes throughout the development process </li> <li>Act as coach and mentor for the Interior Engineering Group for design expertise and knowledge through educational training and hands-on instructions </li> <li>Must have an understanding to translate Voice of the Customer needs into engineering metrics </li> </ul> Location & Travel Expectations: <ul> <li>This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan with transition to Charlotte, NC. </li> <li>This role requires 4 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. </li> <li>Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.</li> </ul> <h4>What you’ll bring </h4> We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. Here's what else you'll bring:  <ul> <li>Education/Certifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering degree from an ABET accredited university. </li> <li>Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years of Product Development and leadership experience in automotive industry, experience including 5 years in Interiors </li> <li>Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills </li> <li>Strong background in product design, analysis, and development required </li> <li>Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills required </li> <li>Knowledge of part capability studies, statistical analysis, and FEA required </li> <li>Knowledge of CATIA V5/V6, Team Center, MS Office required </li> <li>Substantial knowledge in DFMEA/PFMEA, DVP&R, DP's, CAE, & GD&T </li> <li>Strong Knowledge of Injection molding, and material properties </li> <li>Strong Knowledge of FMVSS Regulations Related to Interiors </li> <li>Strong Knowledge of Fasteners </li> <li>Experience working with Product Design Office </li> <li>Experience with Shainin Red X and Kepner-Tregoe Reactive Problem solving tools </li> <li>Experience with Design for Sigma (DFSS) using proactive quality tools </li> <li>Result oriented, energetic self-starting leader with ability to direct cross --functional teams </li> </ul> <h4>What you'll gain</h4> The benefits of joining Scout include the chance to build products and a company from the ground up.  This is a chance to create something new and lasting – with an iconic brand at its foundation.  In addition, Scout provides competitive compensation and benefits to support your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
