Since Freire’s founding in 1999, our network has achieved strong outcomes for students through a rigorous college-preparatory program and a deep commitment to peace, within our walls and beyond.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Freire Charter High School (9–12): 2027 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103</span></strong></p> <p><strong>What you’ll do</strong></p> <p>As the Responsive Literacy teacher, you will provide targeted reading instruction using the Corrective Reading scripted curriculum to full sections of 9th grade. This course is grounded in the science of reading and focuses on accelerating foundational skills and comprehension so students can access grade-level content.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Implement the Corrective Reading curriculum with fidelity to deliver explicit instruction in decoding, fluency, and comprehension to 4 sections of 9th grade. <strong><em>This is not a position working with students in small groups of 1-1 settings.</em></strong></li> <li>Monitor student progress using data and adjust instruction to ensure measurable growth.</li> <li>Maintain a structured, supportive classroom with high expectations for all learners.</li> <li>Collaborate with special education staff, literacy specialists, and content teachers to align supports.</li> <li>Communicate regularly with families about student progress.</li> <li>Participate in professional development and team collaboration.</li> <li>Teachers may also serve as CREW Leaders, co-leading a small group focused on SEL and community building twice per week.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2> <p>You believe all students can succeed and bring our values of equity, love, critical thinking, and diversity to life through your actions and relationships.
