To keep up, we need engineering leaders who can move fluidly between building product-facing experiences and scaling backend systems.</p> <p>This is not a narrow “frontend EM” or “infra EM” role. It’s a hybrid – product-engineering meets backend/infrastructure – for someone who enjoys solving hard technical problems while also growing people and driving projects.</p> <h3><strong>What you’ll do</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Contribute as an engineer on complex product and infrastructure challenges – building features that customers touch and scaling the systems behind them. One week you may be reviewing designs for a new workflow in the UI, the next digging into performance bottlenecks in the query layer.</li> <li>Lead a team of engineers and tech leads – hiring, mentoring, and creating the conditions for them to do the best work of their careers.</li> <li>Drive projects end-to-end – ensuring scope is clear, trade-offs are well understood, and delivery is predictable.</li> <li>Work cross-functionally with Product and Design to set direction, and with Solutions and Support to make sure we’re solving the real problems our customers face in production.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What success looks like</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Your team ships impactful features and infrastructure improvements reliably – without burning out.</li> <li>Systems and workflows you touch become more scalable, reliable, and maintainable.</li> <li>Engineers you manage are growing into broader scope and leadership.</li> <li>Product, Design, Solutions, and Support see you as a trusted partner who helps turn customer needs into product reality.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What we’re looking for</strong></h3> <ul> <li>You’ve been both an IC and a manager – you know what great engineering looks like at the system and code level, and you know how to build and lead teams.</li> <li>Strength across both product/fullstack engineering and backend/infrastructure – comfortable moving between customer-facing workflows and the systems that power them.</li> <li>Experience balancing people leadership, project execution, and technical depth.</li> <li>Clear, direct communicator who builds trust across teams.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Bonus points</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Prior founder or early-stage builder – comfortable creating clarity in ambiguity and wearing multiple hats.</li> <li>Experience with open standards like OpenTelemetry or OpenInference, or contributing to OSS.</li> <li>Background in ML/LLM infrastructure, observability, or evaluation tools.</li> <li>A track record of building developer platforms or enterprise products that engineers love to use.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Why Arize</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Mission</strong> – help teams build AI that actually works in the real world.</li> <li><strong>Scale</strong> – systems operating at trillions of spans and tens of millions of evals per month.</li> <li><strong>Growth</strong> – join at an inflection point and help shape both the product and the team.</li> </ul> <p>The estimated annual salary and variable compensation for this role is between $180,000 - $250,000 USD, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is determined based upon a variety of job related factors that may include: transferable work experience, skill sets, and qualifications. Total compensation also includes a comprehensive benefit package, including: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, unlimited paid time off, generous parental leave plan, and others for mental and wellness support.</p> <p>While we are a remote-first company, we have opened offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, as an option for those in those cities who wish to work in-person.
