Backed by $56M in Series C funding, we're scaling fast—and it's an exciting time to join the team.  About the Role:     If you want to work on cutting edge technology with friendly, intelligent people in a highly collaborative environment, then Gradient AI is the right place for you.  We are looking for a  data engineering manager to lead a team of software and data engineers who are building AI/ML models for the insurance industry. This is a fully remote opportunity.  How you will make an impact:  <ul> <li>Grow, build, and lead a world-class engineering team </li> <li>Participate in high-level design decisions and execute them </li> <li>Work closely with data engineering, software engineering, and data science team members to create integrated automated processes that support a robust ML Ops workflow </li> <li>Be a technical interface for our client implementation team and partners to implement clients </li> </ul>  Skills needed to succeed:    <ul> <li>7+ years of experience with data engineering & software architecture in an enterprise commercial setting </li> <li>5+ years managing developers, helping grow their careers and improve their skills, ideally in a hybrid / remote setting </li> <li>Strong understanding of data engineering processes and proven track record of facilitating and improving cross team / cross department collaboration </li> <li>Familiarity with ML model deployment and ML Ops concepts— enough to partner effectively with data science teams</li> <li>Strong experience with cloud technologies, specifically AWS </li> <li>Familiar with databases (Postgres, MySQL) and application development (Python, Java) </li> <li>Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow), big data processing tools (Databricks), and schema management tools </li> </ul> Bonus Points for: <ul> <li>Experience managing teams across multiple engineering disciplines, including both software and data engineering.  </li> <li>Experience transitioning from client-driven development priorities to product roadmap priorities   </li> <li>Experience working in Insurtech or on AI/ML products  </li> </ul> What We Offer:   <ul> <li>A fun, team-oriented startup culture.  </li> <li>Generous stock options - we all get to own a piece of what we’re building.  </li> <li>Unlimited vacation days.  </li> <li>Flexible schedule that supports working from home.  </li> <li>Full benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid paternal leave, and more.  </li> <li>Ample opportunities to learn and take on new responsibilities.  </li> </ul> We are an equal opportunity employer.  Salary Range: $170,000-205,000 base salary annually.  This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity grant, and a comprehensive benefits package. In accordance with the Massachusetts Pay Transparency Law, we are providing a good-faith salary range for this position at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on the level at which the candidate is hired, as well as their experience, skills, qualifications, and location. Compensation may grow over time through merit-based increases, promotions, and company-wide adjustments.
