Reporting to the Director of Avionics, you will own the systems engineering discipline that ties these domains together — driving requirements decomposition, interface definition, integration planning, and verification strategy across the full spacecraft avionics architecture. You will represent the Avionics Components team in design reviews and customer engagements, translating complex multi-discipline technical challenges into clear decisions and actionable plans.  RESPONSIBILITIES <ul> <li>Own requirements decomposition and flow-down across avionics, RF, and electrical power subsystems, ensuring traceability from customer and program-level requirements to component specifications </li> <li>Develop, maintain, and negotiate interface control documents (ICDs) between avionics subsystems and broader spacecraft systems, including software, GNC, propulsion, and payloads </li> <li>Lead cross-domain integration planning across digital systems, FPGA, EPS, RF communications disciplines to ensure architectural coherence and minimize interface risk </li> <li>Drive technical and programmatic trade studies that span avionics subsystem boundaries, synthesizing inputs from power, RF, and digital teams to produce clear recommendations with supporting analysis </li> <li>Lead and participate in design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) as the avionics systems engineering representative, presenting architecture, interface, and verification status to internal stakeholders and customers </li> <li>Interpret and adjudicate customer specifications, identifying areas of risk, ambiguity, or non-compliance and driving resolution with engineering and program stakeholders </li> <li>Develop and maintain the avionics verification and validation strategy, ensuring requirements are verifiable and mapped to appropriate test or analysis methods </li> <li>Collaborate with EPS engineers on power budget development, distribution architecture trades, and power system interface definition </li> <li>Collaborate with RF engineers on link budget assumptions, antenna interface requirements, and communications system integration planning </li> <li>Support sprint planning, milestone tracking, and schedule development in coordination with the Program Office, keeping the Avionics Components team on track and dependencies visible </li> <li>Identify and track technical and programmatic risks across the avionics domain, driving mitigation plans in collaboration with subsystem leads and the Program Office </li> <li>Develop and maintain avionics program documentation including technical plans, schedules, review packages, and status reports </li> <li>Mentor junior engineers in systems engineering practices, requirements discipline, and cross-functional problem solving </li> </ul> QUALIFICATIONS <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field </li> <li>5–10 years of professional experience in systems engineering, avionics engineering, or a related technical discipline </li> <li>Demonstrated experience with requirements decomposition, flow-down, and traceability management for electrical or avionics systems </li> <li>Experience developing and managing interface control documents across complex, multi-discipline hardware programs </li> <li>Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with the ability to engage credibly with engineers across EPS, RF communications, digital systems, FPGA, and harness disciplines </li> <li>Experience supporting or leading design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) with internal and external stakeholders </li> <li>Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to convey technical information clearly to both engineering and program management audiences </li> </ul> PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE <ul> <li>Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field </li> <li>Experience with spacecraft avionics architectures including flight computers, EPS, RF communications, and harness design </li> <li>Familiarity with spacecraft power system design, power budgeting, and distribution architectures </li> <li>Familiarity with RF communications system design, link budgets, and antenna integration </li> <li>Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or similar </li> <li>Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Confluence </li> <li>Experience working directly with government or defense customers and interpreting military or defense acquisition specifications </li> <li>Familiarity with agile development methodologies applied to hardware engineering programs </li> <li>Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment or a similarly dynamic setting </li> data-aria-level="1">Base Salary: $150,000-$220,000</li> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" data-listid="2"
