<p><strong>Role Overview :</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead a team of 8–10 engineers working on next-generation platform capabilities within Coupang’s transportation ecosystem. This role will focus on re-architecting systems for global use cases, enabling scalable and standardized solutions across regions.</p>
<p>You will lead one of the key initiatives in rebuilding foundational platform services, driving both technical direction and team development. The platform operates at massive scale, supporting tens of millions of transactions daily and impacting every shipment processed within Coupang’s ecosystem.</p>
<p><strong>You will have the opportunity to :</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead a critical initiative in re-architecting transportation systems for global scalability</li>
<li>Build and grow a new engineering team in India, owning end-to-end delivery</li>
<li>Work on high-scale, event-driven systems processing 30–40 million transactions daily</li>
<li>Solve complex distributed systems challenges that impact every shipment across the platform</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What You Will Do :</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead, hire, and grow a team of 8–10 engineers, setting a high bar for performance and career development</li>
<li>Drive the execution of a key platform initiative focused on re-architecting systems for global use cases</li>
<li>Break down complex problem statements into clear technical designs and execution plans, partnering with senior engineers</li>
<li>Own end-to-end delivery, ensuring projects are executed efficiently with strong planning, tracking, and outcomes</li>
<li>Apply strong program management practices including risk identification, mitigation, and stakeholder communication</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams to align on priorities and drive large-scale initiatives forward</li>
<li>Build and evolve an event-driven, highly scalable system processing tens of millions of daily transactions</li>
<li>Establish a high-performance engineering culture with focus on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Basic Qualifications </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management</li>
<li>Strong technical background in Java backend development and distributed systems</li>
<li>Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers through full development lifecycle</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, Aurora, TiDB) and NoSQL (DynamoDB)</li>
<li>Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink, or Spark)</li>
<li>Track record of delivering large-scale, high-reliability platforms on time</li>
<li>Strong communication skills — ability to translate between business stakeholders and engineering teams</li>
<li>BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience working on large-scale distributed or event-driven systems</li>
<li>Prior experience in e-commerce, transportation, logistics, or platform engineering domains</li>
<li>Experience building or re-architecting systems for global scalability</li>
<li>Strong track record of driving cross-team initiatives in fast-paced environments</li>
<li>Experience hiring and scaling engineering teams in a high-growth setup</li>
</ul>

<p>Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.</p>
