CareDx offers products, testing services, and digital healthcare solutions along the pre- and post-transplant patient journey, and is the leading provider of genomics-based information for transplant patients. **Ideal candidate will commute to the Brisbane, CA location** We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to design, configure, and scale software solutions that support complex laboratory workflows. This role is ideal for someone who has worked hands-on with LIMS platforms such as Labbit, LabAdvantage, or similar systems, and who understands the nuances of clinical, molecular, and diagnostic lab operations. You will partner closely with laboratory stakeholders, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate real-world lab processes into reliable, compliant, and scalable software solutions. Key Responsibilities <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Lead the design, configuration, and customization of LIMS systems to support end-to-end laboratory workflows (sample accessioning, testing, results, reporting, QC, and data integration).</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Serve as a technical subject matter expert for LIMS workflows, lab operations, and healthcare terminology.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Work directly with laboratory users to gather requirements, map workflows, and implement system configurations that improve efficiency and data quality.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Build and maintain custom extensions, integrations, and automation around LIMS platforms using modern software engineering practices.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Integrate LIMS with upstream and downstream systems (instruments, ELNs, EMRs/EHRs, data warehouses, APIs).</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Ensure systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11 where applicable).</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Review and improve existing LIMS configurations to support scalability, performance, and maintainability.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across LIMS-related initiatives.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and product teams to support testing, validation, deployment, and ongoing support.</li> </ul> Required Qualifications <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Experience: 8 to 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant hands-on work in LIMS environments.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Extensive experience configuring and customizing LIMS platforms such as Labbit, LabAdvantage, or comparable systems.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, including sample lifecycle management, testing processes, and results management.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Deep familiarity with healthcare and laboratory terminology, data standards, and operational constraints.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Experience building integrations and APIs (REST, HL7, FHIR, or proprietary lab/instrument interfaces).</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript).</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Strong SQL and data modeling skills, particularly for complex scientific or clinical datasets.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Ability to translate lab requirements into technical designs and system configurations.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Excellent communication skills and comfort working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Prior experience in clinical diagnostics, molecular labs, or reference laboratories.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Experience with instrument interfacing and automation.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Familiarity with validation documentation and regulated software development.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;">Experience working in agile development environments.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;
