About the Role

<p><span style="color: #425563;">The Molecular Biology Research team at Natera is looking for a highly motivated Scientist to join our group focused on developing and advancing Natera's oncology product portfolio. </span><span style="color: #425563;">In this role, you will apply your expertise in epigenomics to develop novel cell-free DNA diagnostic assays for cancer detection and disease monitoring.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #425563;">We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated candidate with hands-on laboratory experience in epigenetic assay development who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure the highest quality clinical assays are developed and launched for our patients. The right candidate maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles in epigenomics and molecular biology with an understanding of their applicability to oncology research.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #425563;"><strong>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Independently plan and execute experiments of moderate complexity to develop next-generation automated nucleic acid based diagnostic workflows</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Design and optimize assays leveraging epigenetic signals (e.g., methylation) from cell-free DNA for clinical applications</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Perform basic data analysis (e.g., JMP, R, Python, Excel), write study protocols, and SOPs</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams, including data scientists and bioinformaticians</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Generate reports and presentations to communicate findings directly to peers and management</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Contribute insights towards experimental findings and troubleshoot laboratory processes and protocols.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="color: #425563;"><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Degree in molecular biology, epigenomics, biochemistry, or closely related fields</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">PhD with 2 years of experience, or Master’s with a minimum of 5 years experience in assay development for the life science industry, with demonstrated focus on epigenetic research</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="color: #425563;"><strong>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Expertise in liquid biopsy assay development is strongly preferred</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) combined with hands-on experience in epigenetic techniques is a strong plus</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Extensive hands-on experience with nucleic acid techniques (DNA manipulation, PCR, qPCR, DNA quantitation/analysis, hybrid capture)</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Experience developing or executing assays using automated liquid handlers is preferred</span></li> <li style="color: rgb(66, 85, 99) !important; line-height: 2;"><span style="color: #425563;">Must have experience performing data analysis with Excel (or JMP).
