About the Role

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>Job Summary:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Senior Standards Engineer I serves as a senior technical authority responsible for leading the development, implementation, and governance of engineering standards across product lifecycles. This role ensures compliance with national and international standards, drives strategic initiatives to enhance product certification processes, and acts as a central resource for engineering teams. The Senior Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to embed standards into design, development, and manufacturing, enabling global market access and operational excellence.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Lead the development and maintenance of engineering standards and procedures across multiple disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Process).</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Serve as the centralized source of expertise for standards and regulatory compliance.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Influence and contribute to the strategic direction of the department regarding standards and procedures.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Determine North American compliance requirements for new products and provide detailed requirements for the requirement specification.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Manage and coordinate Approvals Projects related to the development and sustaining engineering of products in D&amp;M.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Drive the development of new North American certification Standards to strategically position new products and technologies into new business fields and applications.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Develop competency as knowledge expert in applicable North American Standards and establish relationship with new approval agencies as required.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Provide clear and effective communication of regulatory compliance requirements for development teams at all levels within the organization.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Lead and Coordinate internal/external Approvals audits for responsible products.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Maintain product approvals documentation in the PLM system related to approvals agencies and administrate the technical file for responsible products.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Train and educate new employees in matters regarding product safety approvals and internal approvals process.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Support Phoenix Contact HQ approvals teams with USA based approvals agencies.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Participate in Engineering changes, conducting the analysis of modifications affecting the certification of those products under change.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Monitor regulatory compliance changes and certifications for obsolescence which affect the business and communicate those clearly, effectively and in a timely manner to the appropriate internal stakeholders.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Lobby for Standards updates, or clarification to wording, where ambiguity is identified in categories and conditions of acceptability.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Review certificates and test reports from external laboratories for completeness and accuracy.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Perform regulatory review for all local product development projects.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Provide application-based consultative support to Phoenix Contact Technical Service where customers implement a Phoenix Contact product in their design, but compliance concerns arise.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Aid in the reduction of Approvals project costs and time to obtain approval. (i.e., faster speed to market through improved project execution and negotiations with Approvals Agency).</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Support of approval related production audits by preparing information and coordinating between the different parties.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrate an honest and forthright presence by taking responsibility for own mistakes and not blaming others, and by doing what he / she commits to doing.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Work as a team player to make a difference within the business and express gratitude and appreciation to others who have provided information, assistance, or support.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Train and mentor junior engineers and new hires on standards, compliance, and internal processes.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Readily handle change through taking advantage of lifelong learning opportunities and being open minded and curious in the face of new challenges.
