Junior Accountant at Comstock

<p><strong>Job Overview</strong></p> <p>The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day accounts payable/receivable and accounting operations of commercial and residential properties. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and flexible in their daily assignments.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Accurately code and enter invoices into Yardi accounting system, ensuring correct property allocation and approval workflows as well as GL and job cost coding</li> <li>Works with Accounts Payable manager and property accounting team to process weekly check runs</li> <li>Works with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies/disputes and W9/insurance compliance</li> <li>Works with all departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency of invoice payments</li> <li>Works with the legal department to ensure proper vendor insurance requirements</li> <li>Perform daily reconciliation of cash accounts to assess cash requirements, proper clearance of payments, monitor positive pay exceptions, etc.</li> <li>Maintain accounts payable filing system</li> <li>Maintain accurate rent rolls and lease data, ensuring consistency across leases, billing, and system records (late fees, pending renewals)</li> <li>Rent deposit processing</li> <li>Monitor daily cash receipts to ensure cash is posted daily including recording electronic wires and book transfers</li> <li>Research and resolve incoming and outgoing cash payment discrepancies or processing issues</li> <li>Prepare monthly bank reconciliations timely and accurately</li> <li>Prepare and present variances to management as needed</li> <li>Support team for other general accounting items and projects as required</li> <li>Communicate effectively with various employees and management across the company</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's in Accounting or related field preferred</li> <li>Yardi experience preferred</li> <li>Strong accounting skills with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP preferred</li> <li>Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Suite&nbsp;</li> <li>Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with high degree of integrity</li> <li>Must hold oneself and others accountable and strive for a high level of excellence</li> <li>Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to fuel growth and innovation</li> <li>Must be customer-focused and results-oriented</li> <li>Must want to continuously learn and develop</li> <li>Exceptional oral and written communication, active listening, and organizational skills</li> <li>Ability to establish strong working relationships with others in team setting</li> <li>Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment</li> <li>Self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits</strong></p> <p>Compensation:<br>- Competitive Salary with Bonus Potential<br>- Generous Benefit Package: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K Match, Life Insurance<br><br>Career Development<br>- Opportunities for Advancement within our expanding portfolio<br>- Annual Professional Development Funds to fuel your growth<br><br>Employee Perks (to name a few):<br>- Housing Discount<br>- Commuter Benefits<br>- Free Parking and EV charging<br>- Parental Leave Program<br>- Enjoy a Friendly Work Environment that values collaboration<br><br>Explore more perks and possibilities&nbsp;<a href="https://careers.comstock.com/benefits">here&nbsp;</a>for growing your career with Comstock Companies!
