Senior Software Engineer (C++ / Golang / Rust) at Tubi

<p><strong>About the Role:</strong></p> <p>We’re looking for a <strong>Senior Software Engineer</strong> with deep expertise in <strong>C++ and/or Golang</strong> to lead the evolution of our backend platform and tooling. While our ecosystem has historical roots in Elixir/Scala, we are shifting our focus toward strengthening our core infrastructure with high-performance programming languages.</p> <p>In this role, you’ll architect and implement secure, high-performance systems, collaborating closely with teams focused on compliance, privacy, experimentation, and infrastructure. You should be comfortable working independently across system boundaries and mentoring engineers while driving technical strategy.</p> <p><strong>Note:</strong> While this is primarily a C++ and/or Go role, we maintain a footprint of Rust-based tools. A cursory knowledge of Rust or a willingness to interface with Rust-based infrastructure is critical for this role</p> <p>We’re particularly interested in engineers excited to learn and integrate AI-powered coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) into their daily workflow to boost velocity and code quality. Prior experience with such tools is a plus.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Architect &amp; Build:</strong> Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-throughput services and tools using Rust</li> <li><strong>Collaborate:</strong> Partner with backend and client teams to deliver high-performance, scalable components that power the next era of our platform.</li> <li><strong>Optimize:</strong> Design systems for reliability, observability, and scale, with an emphasis on clean APIs and modular components.</li> <li><strong>Innovate with AI:</strong> Explore and integrate AI-based development tools into engineering workflows; evangelize productivity best practices within the team.</li> <li><strong>Strategize:</strong> Partner with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners to drive technical vision and influence roadmap decisions.</li> <li><strong>Mentor:</strong> Foster a culture of technical rigor, curiosity, and continuous learning by mentoring mid-level and junior engineers</li> </ul> <p><strong>Your Background</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Experience:</strong> 4+ years of backend software development experience, with significant production experience in <strong>Rust</strong>, <strong>C++</strong> (C++17 or later) and/or <strong>Golang</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Systems Expertise:</strong> Deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, memory management, and performance engineering.</li> <li><strong>Cloud Native:</strong> Experience with modern infrastructure including <strong>Kubernetes, gRPC, CDNs, S3, and Terraform</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Data Layer:</strong> Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Clickhouse).</li> <li><strong>Tooling &amp; Observability:</strong> Proficiency with modern observability stacks and CI/CD pipelines.</li> <li><strong>The "Rust" Factor:</strong> A working knowledge or "read-level" proficiency in <strong>Rust</strong> is a major plus, particularly familiarity with the Tokio or Pingora ecosystems.</li> <li><strong>AI Enthusiast:</strong> Genuine enthusiasm for using and experimenting with AI tools to enhance software engineering workflows.</li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p style="font-weight: 400;">Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is listed annually below.
