You don’t need to speak Hebrew to apply, and we strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to join our community. <h3>The Opportunity</h3> We are seeking a skilled and student-centered Middle School Hebrew Teacher to deliver engaging Hebrew language instruction that helps students build confidence as global communicators. This teacher will create a structured, joyful, and academically engaging classroom where middle school students develop Hebrew language skills through speaking, listening, reading, writing, conversation, culture, and real-world communication. The ideal candidate brings strong language instruction, excellent classroom management, and the ability to build strong relationships with adolescents. What You’ll Do Hebrew Language Instruction & Student Support <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Teach engaging Hebrew language lessons that build students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Support middle school students in developing vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, conversation, and written expression</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Use interactive activities, visuals, routines, discussion, texts, and cultural connections to make language learning meaningful and accessible</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Differentiate instruction to meet a range of student needs, including students who need additional support or enrichment</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Help students understand Hebrew language learning as part of global citizenship, communication, and cultural awareness</li> </ul> Planning, Assessment & Data Use <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Plan and deliver purposeful Hebrew lessons aligned to curriculum expectations and student learning goals</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Use student work, observation, checks for understanding, and assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Identify student strengths, misconceptions, and language-development needs in order to plan targeted support</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Maintain accurate records related to student progress, participation, and growth</li> </ul> Collaboration & School Community <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Collaborate with Hebrew, grade-level, special education, multilingual learner, and leadership teams to support student success</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Partner with colleagues to reinforce school-wide routines, expectations, and culture</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Communicate with families as needed about student progress, strengths, and areas for growth</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Contribute to a positive school culture rooted in care, accountability, inclusion, and shared responsibility</li> </ul> Professional Responsibilities <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Model Hebrew Public’s OLAM values: outstanding problem solving, continuous learning, making a difference, and intentional communication</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Participate in intellectual preparation, coaching cycles, classroom observations, and feedback conversations</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Engage in ongoing professional development and actively seek feedback to improve practice</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Align your work with school-wide priorities and strategic initiatives</li> </ul> Who You Are <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Deep belief in the limitless potential of all students and commitment to helping them thrive as global citizens</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Hebrew language proficiency required</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Pennsylvania teacher certification, or active progress toward certification, preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience teaching Hebrew, world language, dual language, or multilingual learners preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience teaching or supporting middle school students preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience working in urban school communities and a commitment to building strong relationships with students, families, and staff preferred</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to build clear routines, high expectations, and a positive classroom culture for adolescents</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to make Hebrew language learning accessible, relevant, and engaging for students with a range of backgrounds and skill levels</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to use student data and observations to adjust instruction, address gaps, and accelerate growth</li> </ul> Career Development and Support At PHP, teachers are not expected to grow alone.
