<p><strong>Role Overview:</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Coupang’s Finance Platform team, building scalable backend systems that power core financial operations such as settlements and payouts.</p>
<p>The team is building a common finance platform that supports end-to-end partner settlement systems and financial workflows used across the organization. These systems process tens of millions of events per day, requiring high scalability, reliability, and correctness.</p>
<p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own key components within this platform, working on backend systems that integrate distributed data processing, real-time event handling, and cloud-native architectures.</p>
<p><strong>You will have the opportunity to :</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Build large-scale backend systems supporting settlement and payout platforms</li>
<li>Work on distributed event-driven systems processing tens of millions of events daily</li>
<li>Solve real-world financial system challenges involving scale, correctness, and reliability</li>
<li>Contribute to a multi-year initiative to modernize finance platforms at Coupang</li>
<li>Gain exposure to modern data and streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark, Flink)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Design and develop backend services for finance platform systems such as settlements and payouts</li>
<li>Own and deliver medium-to-large features end-to-end, from design through deployment</li>
<li>Build scalable and reliable systems using Java and cloud-native technologies</li>
<li>Work with streaming and data processing systems (Kafka, Spark, Flink) to handle high-volume data flows</li>
<li>Contribute to architectural decisions within your team’s scope and drive component-level ownership</li>
<li>Break down well-defined problems, evaluate trade-offs, and implement efficient solutions</li>
<li>Ensure high-quality code with strong focus on maintainability, performance, and scalability</li>
<li>Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and actively reduce technical debt</li>
<li>Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver impact</li>
<li>Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team-level engineering excellence</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>4–6 years of backend software engineering experience</li>
<li>Strong programming skills in Java (or similar backend language)</li>
<li>Experience building REST APIs and distributed systems</li>
<li>Solid understanding of system design fundamentals and design trade-offs</li>
<li>Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving ability and ownership mindset</li>
<li>Ability to independently deliver features with minimal guidance</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with streaming/data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink</li>
<li>Exposure to financial systems, payments, or settlement platforms</li>
<li>Experience working with large-scale, high-throughput systems</li>
<li>Familiarity with databases such as Aurora, Redis, or similar</li>
<li>Experience with microservices-based architecture</li>
<li>Understanding of event-driven systems and asynchronous processing</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Type of work model</strong></p>

<p>Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.</p>
