About the Role

<p>FGS Global (FGS), a leading strategic communications and government relations firm, is seeking a motivated, sharp and energetic junior-level professional to join the firm’s Strategic Communications practice. This position is within the practice’s Energy &amp; Sustainability group and based in our Washington, DC or New York City office.</p> <p>FGS’s Energy &amp; Sustainability group takes on some of the most complex communications and government affairs challenges spanning a wide spectrum of climate, environmental, sustainability and energy issues. Our team is uniquely positioned to help clients navigate these issues with a mix of deep issue expertise, an unparalleled network of connections, and a two-decade track record at the vanguard of climate, clean energy, and sustainability conversations around the world.</p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Basic writing and research tasks (including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, owned media content, etc.)</li> <li>Assist client teams in prep for meetings/pitches</li> <li>Monitor and/or compile daily press clips for multiple clients</li> <li>Build and maintain press lists</li> <li>Pitch media contacts</li> <li>Write briefing documents, talking points, press releases, etc.</li> <li>Maintain knowledge of evolving policy and political issues that impact the energy &amp; sustainability sector</li> <li>Administrative support for client teams and senior staff, including scheduling, booking travel, and filtering internal and external requests</li> <li>Contribute to firm’s new business process and efforts</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>ATTRIBUTES</strong></p> <ul> <li>A BA/BS degree in a related field with 1-2 years of relevant internship experience</li> <li>Interest, familiarity and experience in energy &amp; sustainability issues</li> <li>Ability to project manage and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Extremely strong writing and communications skills; ability to produce clear, concise materials within tight deadlines</li> <li>Superior research and editing skills</li> <li>Ability to identify and cultivate key media contacts and outlets for a range of clients</li> <li>Experience pitching stories to local and national news outlets is ideal</li> <li>Experience with rapid response or 'war room' efforts is ideal</li> <li>Strong strategic thinking and long-term planning skills</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">District of Columbia Salary Range</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$65,000</span><span class="divider">&mdash;</span><span>$65,000 USD</span></div></div></div>
