We’re building a category-defining business that will reshape America as we strengthen visibility into what’s happening and why at the state level.</p></div><p>We are hiring a Statehouse Reporter, Indiana, to join our team located in Indianapolis, Indiana.</p> <p>As the Statehouse Reporter, Indiana, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Report on the people, power and policies shaping Indiana — from the governor’s office to the committee rooms to the halls of the judiciary.</li> <li>Produce regular scoops, analysis, Playmaker Profiles and explainers for an engaged, insider audience.</li> <li>Develop sources across the political spectrum and across the state.</li> <li>Help <em>State Affairs</em> remain the go-to source for smart, reliable and fearless statehouse news.</li> <li>Contribute to special series, newsletters and public-facing events.</li> <li>Collaborate with other <em>State Affairs</em> journalists to break silos and elevate coverage nationwide.</li> </ul> <p>Essential Qualifications for this position include:</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of professional work experience as a reporter</li> <li>Ability to write clean, compelling, and accurate stories</li> <li>Ability to be nonpartisan and commit to fact-based journalism</li> <li>Ability to work independently&nbsp;</li> <li>Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cross-functionality with product, engineering, and external partners.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications for this position include:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Prior professional work experience as a reporter covering politics, government, or public policy at the state level</li> </ul> <p>This is an in-office work opportunity that operates most days out of the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.&nbsp; State Affairs offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to employees.</p> <p>The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $60,000 to $70,000 for candidates working from Indianapolis, Indiana.
