<p><strong>About the Team</strong></p> <p>OHDELA (Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy) is a tuition-free, K-12 online school dedicated to transforming education through a state-of-the-art virtual experience. We offer a flexible, standards-aligned curriculum delivered by highly qualified teachers, providing 24/7 access to learning. As a premier online academy, we tailor our instruction to meet the unique needs of every student—from advanced learners to those seeking a safe, bully-free environment.</p> <p>We are seeking a <strong>Virtual Special Education Coordinator</strong> who is dedicated to providing a superior education for all students!&nbsp; We are seeking candidates who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development.&nbsp;</p> <p><em>Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.</em></p> <p><em><strong>Eligibility: Open to all residents of Ohio</strong></em></p> <p><strong>About the Opportunity:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Oversight and development of innovative special education services to meet diverse student needs and ensure quality of education and compliance</li> <li>Contribute to the leadership team working as an active member of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Administrative&nbsp;Staff;&nbsp;assist in the development&nbsp;and training&nbsp;of the total school philosophy of special&nbsp;education</li> <li>Ensure maintenance of&nbsp;all&nbsp;special education student&nbsp;records and&nbsp;files&nbsp;in accordance with timelines and guidelines as established by state law and the Department of Education best practices</li> <li>Suggest/develop&nbsp;new&nbsp;policies,&nbsp;procedures or changes essential to special education&nbsp;programs&nbsp;and compliance</li> <li>Hold a reduced caseload of students</li> <li>Maintain compliance with paperwork and service time for the assigned caseload</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional&nbsp;matters</li> <li>Work with the teaching staff to improve standardized and proficiency testing&nbsp;results</li> <li>Assist in hiring and oversee the training of all Special Education&nbsp;staff</li> <li>Act as point of contact with all agencies providing related services to students, manage contracts and agreements related to services in collaboration with supervisor.&nbsp;</li> <li>Participate in ongoing training to enhance professional&nbsp;skills</li> <li>Provide resources for&nbsp;Special Education staff</li> <li>In collaboration with the Testing Manager, track and plan for provision of all&nbsp;documented student accommodations&nbsp;for state and&nbsp;district&nbsp;testing&nbsp;</li> <li>Act as point of contact for outside agencies and service providers working with&nbsp;students&nbsp;</li> <li>Collaborate with the State Reporting Coordinator to ensure all data for Special Education students is accurately captured and reported</li> <li>Participate in such other activities as directed: faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open&nbsp;houses,&nbsp;commencement exercises, chaperone student&nbsp;activities,&nbsp;provide guidance for students, participate in professional&nbsp;learning&nbsp;communities, study&nbsp;and&nbsp;help&nbsp;resolve&nbsp;school problems,&nbsp;and&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;preparation&nbsp;of courses of study -- these activities demonstrate valuable support for&nbsp;the school</li> <li>Perform student home visits as&nbsp;required</li> <li>Serve as LEA/District Rep for special education meetings</li> <li>Perform other duties as&nbsp;assigned</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree minimum, Master’s Degree preferred</li> <li>Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, Google applications, e-mail, and internet applications; excellent verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Exhibit genuine care for children and a passion for teaching</li> <li>Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions</li> <li>Exhibit flexibility with regard to decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties</li> <li>Has strong sense of integrity</li> <li>Has a “team player” attitude</li> <li>Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting</li> <li>Understanding of the community and student demographics</li> <li>Understanding of the RTI process</li> <li>Understand state proficiency testing as well as state teaching standards</li> <li>Satisfactory completion of state required criminal history check and health tests</li> <li>Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Us</strong></p> <p>“We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.” – Ron Packard, CEO &amp; Founder</p> <p>ACCEL Schools is a network of 80+ high-performing, public charter schools serving PK-12 students.
