About the Role

Biohub is the first large-scale initiative bringing frontier AI models, massive compute, and frontier experimental capabilities under one roof. We're building a general-purpose system to accelerate scientific discovery, integrating frontier AI models, biological foundation models, and lab capabilities, with the ultimate goal of curing disease. Our technology powers scientists around the world, translating AI capabilities into tools that accelerate research everywhere.

The Team

Our immune cell reprogramming team integrates foundational research on immunology and disease biology with AI-modeling to develop engineered cells that harness our own immune system to detect and treat early signs of age-related diseases, like cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. These technologies will enable precise, context-dependent therapeutic responses only when and where it is needed. You can learn more about our work here.

Our work brings together three powerhouse universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine.

Our Vision

Pursue large scientific challenges that cannot be pursued in conventional environments

Enable individual investigators to pursue their riskiest and most innovative ideas

Facilitate research by scientists and clinicians at our home institutions and beyond

We are a team of passionate individuals powered by technology, guided by scientific research, and driven by collaboration, working toward a mission to cure or prevent all disease.

The Laboratory of Immunogenomics at Biohub studies the non-coding regulatory genome to understand and address immune dysfunction in diseases like cancer, autoimmune disorders, and aging. We focus on enhancers—non-coding, highly cell–type–specific transcriptional regulatory elements—and their role in shaping immune responses.

We develop and utilize genomic technologies, including bulk and single-cell nascent RNA sequencing, genome editing, immune engineering, and CRISPR-based functional screens in patient biopsies, organoid systems, and mouse models. Through computational analysis integrating machine learning and AI, we map enhancer–gene networks and identify disease-driving elements. Our goal is to advance enhancer-guided precision genomic medicine for diseases involving immune dysfunction.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Fellow to develop a novel high-throughput single-cell genomics platform. This role offers the opportunity to advance next-generation technology at the intersection of single-cell biology, engineering, and translational research.

You will lead the design, optimization, and benchmarking of a new single-cell method for studying gene regulatory networks and apply it in patient biopsy samples and organoid models. Working closely with computational biologists and interdisciplinary collaborators, you will help generate high-quality datasets and translate them into meaningful biological insights. You will join a highly collaborative and rigorous research environment with access to outstanding scientific resources and patient-derived samples. The position offers strong opportunities for scientific growth, publication, mentorship, and career development in single-cell and functional genomics.

This position is well-suited for a candidate with experience in single-cell method development, particularly in microfluidics, droplet chemistry, and bead-based assay design, who is motivated by both technical innovation and biological discovery. You will have the opportunity to shape platform development, establish new experimental pipelines, and contribute to impactful studies in immune regulation and human disease.

What You'll Do

Lead assay and workflow development

Design, optimize, and scale a high-throughput single-cell workflow for challenging biological samples.

Develop and refine workflows involving cell or nuclei handling, barcoding, bead-based capture, droplet microfluidics, and library preparation.

Systematically benchmark assay performance, throughput, sensitivity, reproducibility, and data quality.

Execute molecular and cellular workflows

Perform molecular biology and genomics experiments, including sample preparation, nucleic acid isolation, PCR/qPCR, next-generation sequencing library preparation, and assay optimization.

Adapt and implement protocols for patient biopsies, primary samples, and 3D organoid systems.

Establish robust, reproducible methods for low-input, biologically complex samples.

Integrate perturbation-based approaches

Combine the platform with genetic and chemical perturbation strategies, including CRISPR-based perturbations and drug treatments.

Evaluate compatibility with complementary multi-omic profiling approaches.

What You'll Bring

PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.

Strong research track record and evidence of productivity in relevant areas of single-cell biology, genomics, bioengineering, or assay development.

2 - 4 years of demonstrated expertise in single-cell method development, with strong emphasis on one or more of the following:

droplet microfluidics

droplet chemistry

bead-based single-cell assays

single-cell or single-nucleus genomics workflow development

Proven ability to develop, optimize, and implement complex molecular or genomic assays.

Strong hands-on experimental skills and a track record of troubleshooting challenging workflows.

Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Nice to have:

Experience with RNA biology, transcriptional regulation, or functional genomics.

Experience developing or applying microfluidic and bead-based workflows for single-cell applications.

Familiarity with CRISPR perturbation, functional genomics screens, or chemical perturbation experiments.

Experience working with patient-derived samples, biopsies, or organoid models.

Computational fluency in genomic data analysis and familiarity with tools such as STAR, Bowtie, Seurat, Scanpy, or related pipelines.

Experience integrating multi-modal single-cell datasets.

Comfort working in Linux/HPC environments and collaborating closely with computational scientists.

Compensation

The New York, NY base pay for a new hire in this role is Postdoctoral Fellow = $93,000.00.
