Director of Research - Therapeutics at Guidepoint

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Overview:&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Insights product is a new offering for Guidepoint's Institutional investment and corporate clients, that offers teleconferences, surveys, and in-person events. The teleconferences live in a transcript library portal, which covers a wide of industries/topics that enables our clients to make informed decisions. All content features experts from Guidepoint’s proprietary global network and is conceptualized and hosted by former investment professionals (i.e. private equity/hedge fund), sell-side equity research analysts, and industry professionals.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Research to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Global Head of Healthcare to plan and execute primary research that addresses the evolving needs of our institutional investor clients in the biotech/pharma or medtech/services sectors. This role involves identifying timely and topical ideas, leading expert interviews, mentoring junior analysts, and collaborating with the outreach team to generate valuable insights that drive client engagement.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>This is a hybrid role based in New York City.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Research Planning</strong>: Collaborate with the Global Head of Healthcare to design and implement primary research initiatives, focusing on key areas within Biotech/Pharma.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Idea Generation:</strong><strong> </strong>Generates ideas to generate content that are timely, topical, and aligned with the interests of US institutional investors.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Expert Interviews</strong>: Lead and moderate interviews with physicians, researchers, and industry executives from Guidepoint’s extensive network of over 700,000 professionals, ensuring the extraction of valuable insights.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Preparation and Analysis</strong>: Conduct thorough preparation for interviews by analyzing public company SEC filings, reviewing investor presentations, monitoring news releases, and assessing Wall Street research reports to ensure informed discussions.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Team Management</strong>: Guide and mentor a team of junior analysts responsible for developing corporate content pertinent to the biotech and pharma sectors, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong> </strong><strong>Client Engagement : Develop and implement client engagement plans that reflect the unique needs and pipeline of relevant clients, maximizing their utilization of our Insights content.&nbsp;</strong></span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Training and Development</strong>: Provide rigorous ongoing training for junior analysts on various industry topics, including market analysis, investment research methodologies, mergers &amp; acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts to enhance their professional growth.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Collaboration</strong>: Partner with the outreach team to highlight content that have actionable takeaways to clients.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>What You Have:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degrees (MBA, PhD) preferred.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">15+ years of investment related research experience on buyside or sell side covering Biotech/Pharma. 12+ years of investment experience for Candidates who have MD or Ph.D degrees.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience conducting therapeutics company research is required.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Highly motivated and driven individual that demonstrated consistent outperformance.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Proven track record of conducting and moderating expert interviews.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information from various sources.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams, with effective mentoring capabilities.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Proficiency in research methodologies and tools, along with a strong understanding of investment principles and market trends.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>What we Offer:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The annual base salary for this position is $230,000 - $250,000.
