They perform machining functions such as cutting, deburring, balancing, drilling, boring and broaching of materials used in manufacturing different product components. The CNC Machine Operator I follows standard practices and procedures to ensure that product components are machined accurately and to proper specifications.   Measures of success:   <ul> <li>Meet Safety requirements; personal protective equipment always worn in the facility </li> <li>Meet or exceed daily production requirements  </li> <li>100% accuracy on any inventory transactions and quality requirements </li> <li>100% adherence to processes and material usage, no deviations </li> </ul> Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  <ul> <li>Performs basic setup and operation of assigned computer numerical control (CNC) machines. </li> <li>Produces product components in accordance with blueprints, engineered drawings, Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS), and Bills of Material (BOM). </li> <li>Reviews job information in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system daily to determine orders to process.  </li> <li>Maintains inventory of materials needed for production orders. </li> <li>Determines tooling requirements and setup for machined procedures.  </li> <li>Mounts and secures tooling and workpiece on the machine. </li> <li>Selects and installs cutting tools within the machine. </li> <li>Loads pre-programmed machine commands into the controller. </li> <li>Uses proper machining methods and sequences and performs preventive maintenance for smooth and efficient operations. </li> <li>Runs machine and changes tooling and setup as required.  </li> <li>Adjusts machine controls to perform tool offset and correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. </li> <li>Performs periodic checks and daily routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations. </li> <li>Inspects parts after completion of each operation to ensure they meet drawing specifications, tolerances and quality standards. </li> <li>Places finished parts in proper bins. </li> <li>Rotates and operates different assigned machines as production needs require. </li> <li>Moves materials as needed for machining.  </li> <li>Ensures maximum output for work area; manages time effectively in order to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes. </li> <li>Visually inspects parts for quality and reports any issues to Team Lead or Supervisor. </li> <li>Updates the ERP for work performed. </li> <li>Maintains required documentation as directed. </li> <li>Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and any unusual conditions to Team Lead and/or Supervisor. </li> <li>Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition; ensures equipment is in good operating condition. </li> <li>Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings. </li> <li>Adheres to all safety policies and wears personal protective equipment as required. </li> <li>Performs other related duties as requested.</li> </ul> Qualifications Required: <ul> <li>Graduate of a trade school or vocational program preferred </li> <li>CNC certification preferred  </li> <li>1+ years of CNC operator experience preferred </li> <li>Competent to operate computer and complete basic data entry in systems </li> <li>Must successfully learn specific responsibilities as assigned and adhere to production procedures </li> <li>Proficient and functioning in job responsibilities and able to attain Manufacturing Process Sheet (MPS) training sign-off within 90 days </li> <li>Ability to read engineered drawings and blueprints  </li> <li>Physical dexterity to manipulate hand tools and power tools </li> <li>Ability to push, pull, lift and/or move materials of up to 30 lbs; capable of using hoists for materials over 30 lbs </li> <li>Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity, including standing and lifting </li> <li>Capable of following verbal and/or written instruction </li> <li>Good communication skills with the ability to work within a team setting </li> <li>Attention to detail is essential for success </li> <li>Well organized</li> </ul> Work Environment This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent.  Safety gear is required in these areas.  This position reports into the site every workday.
