About the Role

<p><strong>Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Hell's Kitchen is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist</strong> to serve as the primary point of contact for our clients and their pets. Weekday shifts may begin as early as 6:45 AM and end between 8:00 and 8:30 PM. Weekend shifts are scheduled on a rotating basis from 8:30 AM–3:00 PM.</p> <h4>Responsibilities</h4> <ul> <li>Greet and check in clients and patients, verify and update medical records, and confirm appointment details using practice management software</li> <li>Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system, responding to inquiries regarding appointment scheduling, prescription refill requests, vaccination records, and general hospital information</li> <li>Perform client check-out, including processing payments, posting charges, explaining invoices, and scheduling follow-up appointments</li> <li>Communicate medical information, diagnoses, and care instructions accurately and compassionately, including in emotionally sensitive situations such as euthanasia scheduling and end-of-life discussions</li> <li>Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure timely data entry in the veterinary practice information management system (PIMS)</li> <li>Coordinate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to relay client communications, flag urgent cases, and maintain efficient patient flow</li> <li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room to ensure a positive client experience</li> </ul> <h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>Minimum 2 year of experience as a veterinary receptionist</li> <li>Experience with veterinary practice management software; Cornerstone preferred</li> <li>Experience coordinating domestic and international pet travel, including USDA health certificates and endorsements, is highly preferred.</li> <li>Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, vaccination protocols, and basic diagnostic procedures</li> <li>Proficiency in appointment scheduling, multi-line phone management, medical records management, and payment processing</li> <li>Proven customer service skills; ability to manage high-volume client relations with composure and accuracy</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution</li> <li>Comfortable handling animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments, including fearful or reactive patients</li> </ul> <p></p> <p data-start="92" data-end="146"><strong data-start="92" data-end="144">About Pure Paws Veterinary Care — Hell’s Kitchen</strong></p> <p data-start="148" data-end="406">Located in the heart of Manhattan at 506 W 42nd Street, Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Hell’s Kitchen is a full-service, Fear-Free Certified, Cat-Friendly Practice® committed to providing exceptional veterinary medicine.
