Senior Software Engineer - Middleware Productivity at Figure AI

<p>Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.</p> <p>We are looking for an engineer to join our Middleware team with a passion for helping other teams move fast and fearless, and who appreciates the impact multiplier of that work.</p> <p>Our middleware is an in-house design focused on efficiency and low latency/jitter. Delivering over 200,000 messages per second between 190 nodes on each robot, zero-copy and lock-free. We work hard to provide abstractions that make using it a pleasant experience for all teams at the company.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design and build the core framework and infrastructure the robot runs on.</li> <li>Work directly with client teams to understand how they use it and where it gets in their way.</li> <li>Turn that understanding into better abstractions and tooling.</li> <li>&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>At least 7 years of experience building production software in C++</li> <li>Mastery of Modern C++ (&gt;20)</li> <li>Familiarity with Python</li> <li>Experience working on embedded systems and timing sensitive environments</li> <li>Intimate understanding of the interface between the Linux kernel and userspace applications.</li> <li>Passion for developing well tested frameworks and infrastructure that just works day in and day out for years to come.</li> <li>Motivated by working directly with other teams to understand their needs.</li> </ul> <p>Bonus:</p> <ul> <li>Experience building frameworks and infrastructure with large user bases.</li> </ul> <p>The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $180,000 - $250,000 annually.</p> <p>The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
