<p>For this Middle School Dean of Students role, you will work at Freire Charter Middle School in Center City Philadelphia, serving students in grades 5–8. As Freire Schools’ youngest Dragons, our middle school students are building the academic foundation and habits they need to thrive in a rigorous, college-preparatory high school. At Freire Middle School, we hold high expectations for what is possible in middle school and approach our work with a strong growth mindset, academic rigor, and deep care for students. We are committed to peace at all levels of our community and to creating a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where every student can learn and grow.</p>
<p><strong>Freire Charter Middle School: 1026 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19107</strong></p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Work with school leadership and culture team to foster a positive school culture that supports the academic and social-emotional success of each student.</li>
<li>Maintain safety and order and build relationships with students by being accessible and visible in hallways, classrooms, arrival/dismissal, lunch periods, and after school programs.</li>
<li>Facilitate restorative conversations between members of the school community and de-escalate students crisis situations.</li>
<li>Openly and regularly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior</li>
<li>Maintain student databases with climate/discipline information.</li>
</ul>

<h3><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Minimum requirements</span></h3>
<ul>
<li>At least 3 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations, <em>teaching experience preferred. </em></li>
<li>Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done</li>
<li>Ability to work well individually and as part of a team</li>
<li>Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to engage students, parents, colleagues, and community members in supporting youth development</li>
</ul>
<h1><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Pay and benefits</span></h1>
<p>The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and more.
