As Freire Schools’ youngest Dragons, our middle school students are building the academic foundation and habits they need to thrive in a rigorous, college-preparatory high school. At Freire Middle School, we hold high expectations for what is possible in middle school and approach our work with a strong growth mindset, academic rigor, and deep care for students. We are committed to peace at all levels of our community and to creating a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where every student can learn and grow.</p> <p><strong>Freire Charter Middle School: 1026 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19107</strong></p> <h3>Responsibilities</h3> <ul> <li>Work with school leadership and culture team to foster a positive school culture that supports the academic and social-emotional success of each student.</li> <li>Maintain safety and order and build relationships with students by being accessible and visible in hallways, classrooms, arrival/dismissal, lunch periods, and after school programs.</li> <li>Facilitate restorative conversations between members of the school community and de-escalate students crisis situations.</li> <li>Openly and regularly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior</li> <li>Maintain student databases with climate/discipline information.</li> </ul> <h2>Who you are</h2> <p>You believe in the potential of all students and maintain strong, schoolwide culture systems. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements for this role are encouraged to apply.</p> <h3><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Minimum requirements</span></h3> <ul> <li>At least 3 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations, <em>teaching experience preferred.&nbsp;</em></li> <li>Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done</li> <li>Ability to work well individually and as part of a team</li> <li>Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to engage students, parents, colleagues, and community members in supporting youth development</li> </ul> <h1><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Pay and benefits</span></h1> <p>The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications.
