<h1>Mechanical Box-Build Technician</h1>
<h2>Position Summary</h2>
<p>The Mechanical Box-Build Technician is responsible for performing mechanical assembly, system integration, and basic to intermediate troubleshooting of electronic systems at the chassis, rack, and top-level assembly level. This role supports production builds, RMA rework, and debugging activities to ensure products are built to quality standards and delivered on schedule.</p>
<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2>
<h3>Assembly & Build</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Perform box-build and mechanical assembly of electronic systems, including chassis, racks, enclosures, and sub-assemblies</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, assembly instructions, and work orders</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Install mechanical and electro-mechanical components, including harnesses, fans, pumps, brackets, hardware, and enclosures</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Use hand tools, torque tools, measurement tools, and basic test equipment accurately and safely</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Ensure workmanship meets internal quality standards, ESD requirements, and applicable IPC standards</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Debug & Troubleshooting</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Perform system-level troubleshooting on production and RMA units</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Identify mechanical and basic electrical issues, including harness faults, loose connections, improper assembly, and component failures</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Replace, repair, and reassemble defective or nonconforming parts</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Support functional testing and assist Manufacturing Engineering with failure analysis</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Document defects, findings, root causes, and corrective actions clearly and accurately</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Testing & Verification</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Assist with system bring-up, validation, and final verification activities</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Use basic electrical test equipment, including continuity testers, multimeters, and ohm meters</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Verify completed systems meet build requirements and performance specifications prior to release</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Escalate recurring or complex issues to Manufacturing Engineering, Test, or Quality as needed</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Material & Process Handling</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Inspect parts and materials prior to assembly to verify condition, fit, and integrity</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Follow proper material handling procedures, including ESD and MSD controls where applicable</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Maintain accurate build records, production documentation, and traceability requirements</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and production processes</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Communication & Support</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Communicate build status, issues, and escalations to the Production Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineering</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Work cross-functionally with Production, Test, Quality, and Engineering teams</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Support continuous improvement efforts related to build quality, efficiency, and process consistency</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h2>Qualifications</h2>
<h3>Education & Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>High school diploma or equivalent required</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>2+ years of mechanical assembly, box-build, or system-level assembly experience in a manufacturing environment</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience with system debug, troubleshooting, or RMA repair preferred</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Technical Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly processes</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Ability to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and work orders</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience using hand tools, torque drivers, measurement tools, and basic test equipment</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including continuity checks and resistance measurements</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Familiarity with ESD controls and production floor procedures</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Other Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Good communication, documentation, and follow-up skills</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain quality standards</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Experience with server, rack-level, or high-performance compute system builds</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience with RMA processes, failure analysis, and repair documentation</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Familiarity with IPC-A-610 or other electronics manufacturing workmanship standards</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience working in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience supporting Class 3 or other high-reliability electronic assemblies</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h2>Work Environment</h2>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Production floor environment, including ESD-controlled work areas</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and handling system-level hardware</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>May require lifting or moving mechanical assemblies, chassis, or equipment with appropriate assistance or lifting devices</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Must follow all safety, quality, and material handling procedures</p>
</li>
